“Boys! Please come help carry the groceries out of the car! Cory! Jake! Henry!” Sandra shouted, as she walked into the kitchen from the garage door, carrying a bag of groceries in her arm with her handbag and keys in the other hand.
“Coming, mom!” Cory shouted, as he raced through the door. Cory was the oldest, at 11, and he was always hungry, which was normal for a growing pre-teen boy. Cory had blond curly hair and blue eyes and he was the tallest guy in the house, since Sandra was a single mom and divorced.
Jake was 8 years old, and was the one in the middle, just in 2nd grade. He had black hair and blue eyes.
Henry was the smallest and the youngest, at only 5 years old. He was only one with blond hair.
Jake quickly ran after Cory, since his job was to imitate everything that the older brother did. Everywhere Cory went, Jake followed. Jake totally looked up to Cory and did everything possible to be like his older brother.
Henry, on the other hand, really didn’t care about anything else but to play with his toys and to watch cartoons on TV. Henry just wanted to play and have fun and he just was the ray of sunshine in the family. Cory and Jake would go off and do their sports events together, but Henry was always the little brother who was left all alone, so he usually spent the most time with Sandra.
“Did you get any Pop-Tarts, mom?” Cory asked, as he walked in the door carrying two bags of groceries in his thin, long arms.
“Yeah, and any candy?” Jake asked in choir.
“No, no sweets this time, dear! You need to learn to eat more healthy stuff! You need to eat veggies!” Sandra said, as she started unpacking the groceries.
“Ooohhh mom! You didn’t buy any soda!” Jake groaned.
“No, Jake! No soda for you! You’re gaining weight! I got a whole gallon of milk for you guys!” Sandra replied.
“Hehe! I can get soda from the vending machine at school!” Cory grinned.
“No soda? Awwwww mommm!!!!” Jake whined. “I hate milk!”
“Quit your whining! You need to drink more milk, young man!” Sandra said angrily. “Now, help but everything away before we have dinner!”
The boys helped put everything away before Sandra started to prepare a delicious meal for the four of them. Afterwards, they would watch TV together. During the meal everyone would drink water, and they would all forget about the milk. Later on, someone would remember about the milk, but who?
