Finally it was time to set off, heading off into the woods you walked for hours before reaching the bogs, and Celes was right, this place was pretty horrid. Celes fluttered about the bushes nervously, "I don't like this place one bit, maybe we should try going around?" You were pondering the thought when suddenly a knobbly green hand came out of the bushes and grabbed hold of Celes. She shrieked and as you watched in amazement a creature stepped out of the bushes, it was about four feet tall, a good two feet or more under your height and it's skin was pebbled and green it had a lanky body, looking almost emaciated with it's knobby knees and elbows and the way it's stomach receded in under it's rib cage. It's ugly face had a grin on it, the things face was long and distorted with a long thin nose and a thin lipped mouth, it had almost bulbous eye's which were black and it's long pointed green ears stuck outward from it's head. You stare in shock as Celes continued to scream, clutched in the things knobbly green hand, it looked down at her annoyed then covered her mouth with it's thumb. "Noisy things, aren't they?" It calls out to you. Breaking you out of your fugue you look at it again, it's obviously intelligent, "What are you?" you finally manage to ask it. "The name's Hogle, and I'm a goblin," A goblin huh, this world keeps getting stranger and stranger, "Well then Hogle, what are you planning on doing with Celes." The Goblin looks confused a minute before looking down at the faerie struggling in his grip, "This thing? I plan on eating it, the buggers make you live longer, though I suppose it didn't tell you that." You look at Celes, her blue eyes wide with shock and fear, it made perfect sense to you now why things would want to eat them.
"No she didn't, but I need her help to get to the other side of this bog," The goblin looked contemplative for a minute, "So you need to get out of this here bog, and I need to fill this here belly o' mine, how's about you let me eat this here darling, and lead me to any others you know of, and I get you through to the other side all safe like?" It was a interesting offer, and you definitely had to consider it, Celes was kind, but good intention weren't exactly going to get you out of this forest. The goblin looked like a far handier ally and as Celes had said, lots of faeries didn't make it back from their journeys and it helped keep the food supply sufficient for the others. So really maybe you were doing a good thing by letting old Hogle turn her into a meal, so, what are you going to do?
