You weren't sure if you'd heard your mom correctly; you didn't think it was possible for something like that to happen. Even if that were true; what would that have to do with mom being heavier than before you had gone through the portal.
A quick glance over your shoulder confirmed that mom was right; she was standing in front of a mirror holding an infant in her arms. It didn't take long to realize that the infant was you. Starting to freak out, you tried to speak again but found that you were still only able to make baby noises.
With no other recourse, you started to cry. Looking down at you, gently rocking you back and forth, Mom said, "There's been some other changes as well...Eric." pausing, Mom said, "You've probably noticed that I've gained a little weight since you saw me last."
Still crying; although not as much; you managed to give what passed as a nod for an infant. Continuing, Mom said, "As near as we can tell; reality was altered when you went through the portal." Sighing, she said, "The old...you was never born in this reality. Instead I gave birth to the...new you 4 months ago."
That was enough to start you crying again; that portal had ruined your life. If only dad had listened when everybody told him not to make it; then this wouldn't have happened. Before mom could say anything else, Tonya came into the room. "What's going on, I heard crying."
"I was just telling your...sister what happened." Sighing, Mom said, "It didn't go very well."
Taking you from Mom's arms, Tonya looked down at you and said, "It's quite a shock for all of us, Eric." Pausing, she said, "Everything in this reality is different; but as far as we can tell only the 4 of us know that's the case."
Carrying you in her arms, Tonya walked out of the bedroom and down the hall. As you went passed the pictures on the wall, you saw that every picture of the old you had either vanished or been replaced with pictures of the new you. "Why did this happen to me!?"
