It took only a few minutes of silent thinking before Souta felt bored out of his mind. He considered calling few friends to see if they wanted to do anything together. But the thought was quickly discarded when he remembered it was spring break, so they out of visiting relatives.
"I know! I'll go explore the woods out back!" It had been so since he went into the woods that covered the mountain range belonging to the Higurashi estate. In fact, the last time he could recall was when Inuyasha claimed his sword could make diamonds, of all things.
With a plan of action cemented in his mind, Souta hopped off his bed and headed down stairs to kitchen to fetch a couple snacks for his little expedition. There he found his mother working on what he only imagine to be that night's dinner.
"Mom, I'm going out into woods. Is there anything I take for a snack?" Souta asked as he rummaged through the refrigerator.
"There are few leftover onigiri that didn't make into your sister's backpack. Fell free to take as many as you want, they should be on the second shelf." The desired treats were right where he was told they would be.
Souta grabbed four before closing the fridge. He then retrieved his lunch box and a backpack to carry everything in. Finally, the boy made his way towards the exits, but not before asked to return home before dinner. It was curry, one of Kagome's favorite dishes, but with her suddenly being spirited away again, the rest of the family was going to have to work at trimming down the amount of leftovers. Souta was going to have to make his trip a swift one if he had any hopes of doing anything worthwhile while he was out. He slipped the shoes he had accidentally brought to his room back onto his feet. It was a slight, though, almost like the shoes had shrunk. Or maybe his feet were still swollen from when he last took the shoes off. The possibility that his feet had honestly grown bigger since early that morning, also crossed the boy's mind, but was written off as being as equally impossible the shoes shrinking. But to be on the safe side, he'd let his mom know that he needed a new pair when got back.
