As the Master Chief escaped the Crow's Nest in the Warthog that he found in a cave underneath the base he looked back as it exploded in flames. He stopped near a computer terminal he spotted and plugged Cortana into it so she could call in a Pelican Dropship to come and pick them up. The computer terminal malfunctioned and Cortana began to slowly disappear into it. Chief panicked and placed his hand on the terminal to try and retrieve her. The terminal, however, exploded, sending Chief into a tree and knocking him unconscious.
As five minutes passed he woke up and looked at the terminal but saw no trace of Cortana. Hoping that she had not been destroyed by the terminals explosion he called out, " Cortana, where are you?" He asked as his voice echoed through the Tsavo valley. He stood up and starting looking around for her. All of a sudden Chief tripped over something and fell face first in the ground. He got back up and saw that he had tripped over a giant blue foot. He slowly looked up. It was Cortana. Chief couldn't believe it. She was no longer a 7 inch tall hologram. Cortana now stood at around 2000 ft tall, towering in her new height over the tsavo highway. What the hell happened Chief asked. Your guess is as good as mine , Cortana replied. Cortana got down on her giant knees and asked the Chief. ," So, would you like me to give you a ride from the tsavo highway to voi, or would you like to drive there yourself?" She asked. She extended out her massive blue right hand and it came crashing down on the ground, causing a tremor and loud booming noise. Chief looked at the warthog, then back to Cortanas giant blue hand.
