This choice: Betty is exploring an uncharted alien world, • Go Back...Chapter #3Des Mondes 7. by: Unknown "Ugh. This planet is full of so many plants!" Betty spoke aloud as she tore and sliced her way through plant after plant. The newly-named planet called Des Mondes 7 had only been discovered around 4 months ago. Much of the planet's terrain and native creatures are still a mystery. Betty, keeping that in mind, trekked through the planet's vegetation with her eyes and ears toned to her surroundings.
"Finally, I'm out of that forest." she said in relief as she came across a grassland. However, she heard some rustling and munching coming 100 feet over the hill on her right. "What's that?" she asked. Gazing over the hill, she spotted a dark, skinny-looking creature scavenging the carcass of a much larger beast. Its face was blanketed under two massive, bat-like wings.
"What a strange-looking creature." she said. Suddenly, her movements caused a few small rocks to stumble down. Hearing the ruckus, the beast reared its face up with a surprised grunt. Ducking under the hill, Betty said, "Nice one, Betty."
Disturbed by the commotion, the bat-like creature bared its fangs as it turned around. Using its radar-like ears, it could hear the tiniest noises. Little did Betty know that the creature was hearing the faintest sounds of her breathing and heartbeat.
"Better get out of here." she said. Moving as slowly as she could, she began to turn back to the forest. Then in flash, the creature swooped down and landed in front of her. Baring its fangs, it gave a nasty nip on her arm. "Ow!" she screamed as the beast nipped her arm.
Falling to the ground, she prepared to fight back. Raising her arms up, she watched as the creature crept closer. Just as it was about to bite again, she right-hooked it in its jaws. Shrieking in pain, it let loose a shriek of rage before flying away.
"What was that thing?" she asked. "Better get this bite checked out." she said as she saw her bleeding wound. However, the creature's bite was about to unleash its strange effects.
