Jerry feels a quick jolt over his body and nearly drops to his knees before regaining his balance.

"What the hell?" he asks as he shakes his head in an attempt to rid himself of the strange sensation. He felt tired, weak even.

Nearly home, he finishes the walk, feeling very strange.

"Hey dude, wanna play a quick one on one?" asks a neighbor of his.

The kid was pretty terrible at basketball, and Jerry wasn't one to turn down an opportunity to up his ego.

"Sure scrub," he said, toying with the the kid, who was 2 or 3 years younger than himself.

The game was to 7, the kid, named Danny, got the ball first.

Preforming a quick crossover, he nearly left Jerry completely in the dust and then rushed by him to the basket with speed and energy Jerry could not match.

"Come on man," said the kid, squeezing his arm and surprising both himself and Jerry with how soft it was, "You look like molasses out here."

"Shut the fuck up and check," Jerry said angrily, he had a pretty nasty temper.

"Geez, okay," said Danny. He checked the ball and then pulled up from mid range, but he didn't have much a of a jumper, even if Jerry was a lagging a few steps behind him. Jerry grabbed the rebound and cleared the ball. He tried rushing past the kid in one direction, then the other, but it was no use, the kid was matching him move for move with ease.

Jerry decided to simply pull up and shoot a jumper, but when he did, the ball barely even touched the net, much to his surprise.

Jerry made his way back behind the foul line, breathing very heavily despite only having played for less than 2 minutes.

"Dude, what the hell is up with you, you're as slow as my mom-" said Danny. Jerry was offended, Danny's mom was a plump woman who didn't even bother trying to lose any weight.

"Just play," he said, almost gasping for air afterwards.

Danny once again rushed by Jerry with ease, bumping knees with him and nearly knocking him down.

"3-0," said Danny simply. Jerry just nodded.

Danny streaked behind the three point line from one side, and then to the other. Jerry followed him lazily, barely keeping up, and eventually giving up and leaving him open.

"Dude," said Danny, looking him up and down, he didn't seem different at all, but he was in terrible physical condition.

"I think I'm sick," said Jerry, "We'll play some other time."

Danny simply nodded, though there was a hint of a grin on his face for having beaten Jerry.

Jerry rushed home, or at least it felt like he was putting the effort of a rush, but it looked more like a pathetic jog. Jerry opened his door and barely even gave it time to slam shut before making his way to the kitchen.
