Just then your mom came downstairs. "Hey everyone!" she said cheerfully. "Hey, would you mind helping me with something?" she says, looking at you. "Sure," you reply. "What is it?" "Well I'd like to be able to take my head off at any time, but obviously I need the rapier to do that right now, and I don't think I'll always be able to use it. Can you help me think of a solution?"
You think about it for a while, before coming up with a brilliant idea. You lead your mom into the garage, where you cut off her head. You tell her to sit down. Once she does so, you attach a block of wood to her neck, then attach her head to the block of wood. You trace an outline of her neck around the wood before cutting it back out. You cut around the outline, so that the new section of neck seems more natural. Then you cut her wooden neck in half. you drill holes in each side, taking great care to ensure that they line up. You then take the bottom section, drop some wood glue into the holes, insert a few dowels, attach the sections to the top of your mom's neck and the bottom of her head, and stand back to admire your handiwork.
"Now you just have to wait until the glue completely dries and you're all set," you tell your mom, glad you'd taken that wood shop class. "Thanks son!" she picks up her head and walks back up to her room.
You go back into the kitchen and explain what happened to everyone. They all think its really great.
