Chapter #4

A mysterious elf.

A large purple hand covered in tattered bandages was sticking out from the snow. There was a person covered in a giant snow bank! Squeaking in surprise, Val waddled over to the mountain of snow and started digging. Just as her hands were numb from the cold she finally uncovered the stranger's face.

"It's a night elf! One of the kaldorei!" she cried, trying to dig even more frantically now.

What was a night elf doing so far away from Teldrassil remained a mystery to the gnome. Sure, some had been known to visit in Ironforge but the dwarf city was so far away from where Val lived that she practically lived in another province. She didn't have too much time to fuss about the details though, the color was quickly fading from the night elf's body. Judging by the outfit he was wearing, or what little there was of it, he was probably freezing to death. He wasn't doing much besides shivering and moaning as Val pulled him out with a mighty heave.

It was quite a feat for the tiny gnome to haul the much larger night elf all the way back to her house but somehow she managed. Perhaps it was her determination to finally speak with a night elf to achieve her lifelong goal that drove her to such desperate actions. When she finally lunged the freezing elf into her home, she gently sat him down on her much too small couch and covered him in mountains of blankets.

It was when she fed the elf a small vial of liquid which was a Warming Elixir she had created did the night elf open his eyes.

"Th-Thank....Y-You..." he managed to get out before blacking out.

The strange night elf spent the next week knocked out in Val's small home. She was sure to provide him with different potions to restore his health and gave him warmth and comfort from the howling blizzard that had not subsided outside. Her research with finding a way to gain druid powers was put completely on hold.

The elf finally awoke on the seventh day. He seemed confused as to where he was at first.

"Where am I?"

Val explained to him how she had been taking a walk to clear her mind and found him half frozen to death under a pile of snow just a short ways from her house. This only seemed to add to his confusion even more.

"Wait, where am I exactly? Winterspring?"

"Winterspring? Of course not, you're a long way from home. You're in the land of the dwarves, Dun Morogh." replied Val.

"I see...Then I haven't a clue how I got here then."

"Do you at least remember your name?"

"Yes...Tork...Tork Silverwind. A druid of the Cenerion Circle."

Val squealed with joy, causing Tork to furrow his brow somewhat.

"...Is something funny?" he asked.

"No! Not at all! I'm just excited is all! You have no idea how long I've been waiting to meet a druid like you! I'm Val Flintsocket, but everyone calls me Sparkie!" she said, roughly shaking the elf's hand.

"Uh, pleased to meet you...I think. I'm curious as to why a gnome has so much interest in a druid like me."

"Oh, I've kind of..." she blushed, most people laughed at her when she told them her goal in life. "I've always wanted to be a druid like the night elves of old."

But Tork didn't laugh and instead gave her a serious look. "Truly?"

"Yes, I've always been close to nature and stuff. In fact I lived out here just to get away from all the commotion of the city, trying to find a way to tap into the power of nature. Nothing's worked so far...I guess you can say I'm kind of pathetic..."

The elf smirked. "Not at all. Many of our young aspire to become druids but lack the initial talent. With hard work though, they always pull through if they're dedicated enough though. I'm just surprised that one of the mortal races would have an interest in the spirits of nature."

Val's hopes began to rise. "Do you...Do you think you could make me into a druid?"

Tork gave a warm smile. "It's completely possible."

You have the following choices:

1. He asks her to come with him to Moonglade.

*Noteb*
2. He gives her a strange herb.

*Noteb*
3. Something else.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
