"Oh Bobby, I don't know why this happens, but almost everyone who sleeps in your room changes." says Marla.
Bobby purrs and rubs his head against her stomach as she scratches under his chin.
"I remember my experiences there. One day I was a bird, the next day I was a business man. One day I was a toddler unable to take care of myself. Once I was me as a little girl, and the last day I was a dog. After the fifth time, I became myself again, and the room never worked on me again."
Bobby jumps off of her lap and starts scratching the table leg. Marla claps loudly, which frightens Bobby. "Bad Bobby!" she says as the cat jumps back embarrassed. Marla picks Bobby up and starts petting him again.
"I thought I dreamed the whole thing. Then one day I invited a traveler to stay in that room. I woke up to get him breakfast and found a stuck up teenage girl there. She thought I was some kind of witch and left. Three days later, she returned, begging me to change back. I let her use the room again, but nothing happened."
Bobby looks up at Marla with his giant eyes.
"Bobby, she never changed back. It's important that you fall asleep in that bed before midnight."
Bobby jumps out of her grasp and runs back to the bed and lays down asleep in it. It's a sign that he understands.
Being a cat had it's advantages when it came to sleeping. Bobby slept for the rest of the day, until the next morning came and he was changed again.
