It was a great experiment your father explained, not only did he bring back the long extinct dinosaur the Tyrannosaurus Rex, but he created one that not only highly domesticated but also rather intelligent possibly sentient considering she was able to learn to speak a few words.
Since you were little you and Rexy were best friends, always playing together, traveling the vast fields of your home together, though as you grew older your responsibilities shifted towards the care of the massive creature. The daily routine was simply making sure she had water and was fed, as the grounds of the house were about five acres and she was intelligent, comfort wasn't really your concern as she would do what she needed to do. While she could obviously hunt on her own, your father thought it best to domesticate her quickly before she got too big and possibly eat anything moving.
Her feeding habit was simple, a few times a day you or your parents would bring a goat into the vast enclosure and the T-Rex would come and eat it. With you having a close relationship with Rexy, you abstained from watching her eat, choosing to simply drop the food and leave quickly before she came.
Now your father was nominated for a prestigious award for the successful resurrection of the species he and your mother were away for the weekend leaving you to attend to the dinosaur as it was too large to transport to the event.
