Chapter #4

The transporter safety protocol.

by: Mr. George Author IconMail Icon
The landing party were just dematerialising as the planet beneath their feet gave a tremendous lurch, and Riker, Data and Worf were starting to shimmer back into phase onboard the enterprise, when the whole panel exploded thrusting Chief O'Brien backwards against the wall. The impact knocked him unconscious.

While on the bridge, Captain Picard ordered the Enterprise to enter warp, to escape the boiling atmosphere rushing towards his ship. "Do you have them Mr. O'Brien?" he called to receive no reponse.

"Medical team to Transporter Room 5." He barked, the potential loss of so many of his bridge crew, and even his friends made a cold shiver run down his spine.

Dr. Crusher raced to the scene, her heart in her throat. It was the call all starship doctor dreaded hearing, a transporter accident had horrific potential. But pursued hotly by Nurse Ogawa, she found only one injured crewman in the room.

O'Brien had some facial burns and two broken ribs, but there wasn't any sign of the landing party. Her eye passed to the console, she wasn't an engineer, but that looked fried.

Geordi arrived on the scene, to see if he could help with the transporter. He had to use the wall panels to find out any information. Alas there were no patterns left in the buffer. There was no record of where they had gone, or even if they had gone anywhere.

He tried to suppress his fear for his friends, if the computer had encountered a difficulty during transport and not received input, it might have beamed them back to the source.

You have the following choices:

1. Stored in the holo-buffer.

*Noteb*
2. Three crew appear dazed and confused in ten forward.

*Noteb*
3. On a passing ship.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
