Stephan was delighted with his new-found power. He could now shrink down anybody he chose with a mere thought. And make them not just small, but incredibly minute, microscopic even. For a kid that age the thought was utterly intoxicating. All the people who bored or annoyed him, anybody who caught his eye, all completely in his power!
Then an idea suddenly popped into his head.
"All the people..." he murmured with a sly grin on his face. "I wonder exactly how many people I could shrink down and capture, just by thinking about it..."
Ten? A hundred? A thousand? More!?
As he continued to daydream his thoughts returned to one of his earlier classes: a particularly boring one on geography and economics.
"Perfect! I know exactly how to liven things up!" he smirked. Then he concentrated and snapped his fingers.
Instantly Stephan was back in that earlier class, sitting on his own at a desk at the back of the room. He looked around, but nobody seemed to have noticed anything unusual. His new god-like powers had brought him back without any disruption.
It was just as boring as the first time he sat through it. The teacher was droning on about New York and its role as a economic and tourist center, how many people lived and worked there, and blah, blah, blah...
So instead of listening to the man's useless speech Stephen held his hand out in front of him and concentrated...

The inhabitants of New York were going about their lives as usual when there was a sudden rumbling sound and the ground began to shake. Before they could react properly there was a flash of light. As it faded they realised that the sun and sky had disappeared, to be replaced by a featureless grey expanse countless miles above them. The light now seemed to be coming from long glowing strips stretching along this strange expanse, but they were simply too far away to be seen clearly. Before they could speculate further another impossibly huge shape rose above the skyline, blocking everything from view. As the shadow fell over the city millions of people started screaming....

Stephan smiled as he looked down at his hand. It was no longer empty. There, in the middle of his palm was a teeny grey and silver shape, no more than an inch across. He brought the little thing up to his face for a closer inspection. It was incredibly tiny, but he could make out intricate little patterns running across its surface like grids. There were even a couple of minute strands of blue to be seen. Stephan glanced up and compared those patterns with the map of the city that was on display at the front of the class. It was a perfect match. His plan had worked. He now had the city of New York and its millions of inhabitants cupped in the palm of his hand!
"Time to meet your new God," he whispered. His clear blue eyes glittered with excitement.
