This choice: Herman.  •  Go Back...
Chapter #5

Herman.

    by: Unknown
With aching feet and half-wet clothes, Herman made his way down the hill. Over his back hung his heavy his heavy backpack, filled with the last resources that he originally started with. In his right hand he carried a black briefcase, a prized companion he protected with his life. He glanced back over his shoulder; dark, ominous woods stood behind him, leaves rustling in the wind. It was almost dark, and the temperatures where plummeting.

Steam rouse from Herman's mouth as he quickly made for the town down below in the valley. 'Almost there,' he thought. It came to no surprise that this large town was devoid of life, but to Herman any form of civilization was better then none. The streets where eerily quiet: cars stood abandoned, buildings' windows where smashed open, and plant life grew everywhere.

Slowly making his way down the streets, Herman spotted movement in a nearby shopping market. He wasn't sure, but it almost looked like light from a fire. Feeling relieved that some sort of life was here in this ghost-town, Herman made his way to the market.

The Frosty Market was the name of the establishment, painted on a sign with bold-letters. It was not large, just a small business selling basic food products. The main door was boarded shut, no way for him to enter through here. Perhaps there was a door at the back? Every shop must have a delivery point in the back?

To find out, Herman cautiously made his way around the back. But when he did so, loud moaning sounds was audible. Peering around the corner, Herman spotted a enormously fat man banging on the pack of the garage door. From his torn jeans, filthy ragged shirt, messy beard and hair, Herman could determine that this man was a hobo, infected by the virus a while back.

He turned his bloated head and spotted Herman. "Food," he bellowed. He advanced towards Herman in a rather slow pace. Quick and easily, Herman was able to flank the fat slob and headed towards the garage door. From the excessive banging, the door was open only wide enough for Herman to crawl through.

Ones inside, he shut close the door, properly closing it. The banging resumed, but the creature was luckily outside. Herman got to his feet and proceeded to invade the store.

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. He encounters the shop owner.

*Noteb*
2. He encounters something else.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
