In a panic Julie jumped out of her seat. She saw Vicky reaching for her, but paid little mind. She couldn't stay in a classroom with three mad gunmen, she just couldn't. She'd go out of her head with terror. So instead she bolted for the door, hoping to catch the bastards off guard and escape before they knew what was happening.
It a was poorly thought out plan, doomed from the start. Julie was quick, but the gunmen were prepared and possibly even anticipating just such a move. Julie was only a few steps away from her desk when she caught the first round. It struck her below her right breast and she felt a tightening in her chest.
A couple steps later she was met with two more rounds, so close together they struck her nearly simultaneously. One pierced her right nipple and the second burned into her abdomen. Julie barely slowed and in no time she slipped past the first of the gunmen. Halfway there, she told herself, but a voice inside her was screaming that she was dying. Never mind that, just keep running.
Two bullets punched into her back, courtesy of the bastard she had passed, and she caught a couple more in her left breast and left shoulder. Her legs felt like they were made of rubber, but still they carried her past the second gunman. The third was off to her right and the exit was straight ahead, a mere ten feet away.
A bullet entered the right side of her stomach, and another smashed through the right side of her rib cage. Julie stumbled and felt herself going down, but caught her balance at the last possible moment and staggered on. The exit was right in front of her, almost close enough to touch, when four more shots struck her in the back, two low and two high.
Julie fell forward against the door and her fingers fumbled at the handle, but she found she lacked the strength and coordination to open it. Instead she pushed herself off and turned around to face her killers. An onslaught of bullets came then, fast and furious, with round after round punching through her torso until she had been riddled with a total of twenty-six shots. Still on her feet, her back to the door, Julie slowly slid down to a sitting position. Well this was dumb.
She heard some of the horrified screams of her classmates, and saw the thunderstruck look on Vicky's face, but none of them knew what horror was. Until they had been shot twenty-six times and sat dying in a pool of their own blood, they had no idea. Julie had another twenty seconds with her thoughts before she passed away into nothingness, and she found nothing to console her.
