A Big Catch

Her line went taut. “Yes, come to mama.” She quickly stuffed the last of her candy bar into her mouth before grabbing the rod. The pole bent and bowed as she pulled with all her might. “Wow, it is a big one.” She grunted as she put all her weight into it. With a mighty tug, her quarry finally flew from the water as Misty stumbled back onto her cushy rear with a loud thud.

Her eyebrows shot up in confusion as a young boy landed beside her with a crash. He coughed and sputtered, clutching something small to his chest. Her eyes widened as she watched the pokemon seemed to only wince.

“Hey, are you two okay?”

“Yeah, I am fine.” He grimaced as he sat up. His eyes grew to the size of saucers as he took in his savior.

“What about your pokemon?”

He looked down at Pikachu, worriedly. He was about to reply when a faint squawk reached his ear, followed by another and another. The terror in the pit of his stomach, grew and grew as the squawking became louder and more numerous.

“That is a lot of Sperrow, I wonder who got them all worked up.” Misty hummed as she gazed over the lake. Ash shot to his feet and started running.

“Hey, where are you going?” She asked as she watched him race to her bike. “Hey! That is my bike!”

“I am sorry but I need to get him to a pokemon center, I will bring it back, I promise!” He shouted as he stuffed Pikachu into the basket and paddled in a mad dash.

~~~~~~~
“You!” Ash jumped as a very angry Misty waddled in. Ash stumbled back, his back hitting the counter as she stalked forward. “You completely destroyed my bike!” Her chest heaved as she let the twisted, smoking heap of metal fall to the floor.
“Ah! I am sorry I trashed your bike. I need to get my pokemon to the pokemon center. I will pay you back, even if it takes me years.”
“Oh, you better believe you will!” She glared.
“But I can’t do anything about that until I make sure Pikachu is okay.” He glanced sadly toward the door leading back to the operating room.
Misty followed his gaze before her eyes softened. “How is he?”
“Not good, Nurse Joy says he pushed himself well beyond his limits fighting off those Sperrows.” Ash replied before turning back to her, his eyes widened in panic as she was hunched over, bracing her hands on her knees. “Are you alright?” He asked as he rushed to her side.
“Yeah, just fine. Do you know how many calories I burned running after you, Jerk.” She growled before slapping his hand away. She glanced at the vending machines around the lobby before patting her pockets. A large sigh escaped her lips as her shoulders sagged. “I am going to head to the cafeteria to grab something to eat, DON’T go anywhere.”
He blinked as she stormed off, a blush dusted his cheeks as his gaze drifted down to the butt and hips. Tearing his eyes away, his mother’s frowning face appeared before her mind's eye. It pointed at the retreating redhead sternly.
“Hey, wait! Let me treat you to dinner at least!” He shouted as he ran after her. Misty stopped, turning to face him with a critical glare.
“You want to buy me dinner?”
“Yeah, it is the least I can do after stealing your bike.” He broke eye contact sheepishly.
“I don’t know if you have the funds to fill me up.” She states smugly, giving her round belly a slap. It jiggled and bounced like jello for far longer than Ash thought it would. Misty bit her lip as he continued to stare. She stuck out her belly, making it look as big as possible. “I am a pretty fat girl, I can eat a lot.”
Finally tearing his eyes away from her large, doughy belly, meet her forest green eyes. “That makes sense, a buffet maybe?” He asked. Instead of getting angry, Misty’s eyes seemed to light up as she absently rubbed her belly.
“Hmm, I will take you up on your offer but not tonight. Pikachu comes first.” She grinned as she spun back around, waltzing into the cafeteria with a new bounce in her step. Ash followed her as the two got in line. An assistance nurse stood behind the counter, her smile became strained at the sight of Misty.
“Welcome back, the standard plate then, or will you be getting extra portions?”
“Just the normal plate.” Misty grumbled. The nurse handed her a simple tray with a bowl of cheese pasta, a dinner roll, a small side salad as well as a drink. The nurse handed Ash the same thing as she shot him a sympathetic look.
“What do I owe you for the meals?” He said as he reached for his wallet.
“Nothing, meals are free for trainers unless you are getting seconds.”
He blinked at her in surprise. “Wow, that is pretty cool. Does that include food for Pokemon as well?”
“Yes sir.”
Ash smiled all the way back to the table only to find Misty’s plate completely empty.
“Wow.”
“Like I said I am a pretty fat girl.” She sighed before taking a sip of her drink. “You are just starting your pokemon journey, right?”
“Yep, Pikachu is my starter. Though that hasn’t turned out so great for him so far.” He said with a frown.
“You are just starting out, mistakes happen. It is what you do next and how you learn from them that matters.” Misty said softly, shooting him a soft smile. Ash couldn’t help but smile back.
“Sounds like something my mom would say and she is one of the smartest people know.”
“Well get used to it because you aren’t getting rid of me til you have paid me back for the bike. You did say something along the lines of ``even if it takes years.”
“I did say that, didn’t I.” Ash mumbled. “I guess we are traveling partners then.”
“Yep,” She said, shaking her head at his stupid grin. “If we are going to be traveling together there is some stuff you have to know. One, I am fat and I like it. I know it is weird but it is just something I am into so deal with it. Two, with the way I eat, I am going to get bigger and I am okay with that. And three, one of my goals is to be the biggest water type trainers around.”
Ash only blinked for a moment as he looked down to her belly and then back to her face. “That is a little weird I guess. But mom says beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and who the person is is more important than how they appear.”
“Your mom sounds very smart, mama’s boy.” She chuckled as he nearly choked on his drink.
“Hey, I am not!” He growled. She only raised an eyebrow in response. After a moment of raining in his temper and calming down a question popped into his head. “If you are trying to get fatter, why do you ride a bike?”
A blush crept across her cheeks. “I may want to get bigger but I also want to be a water pokemon master which means I need to catch water pokemon. The bike made traveling to different lakes and rivers easier. It sucks but it is a short term loss for a long term gain.”
“So what if instead of buying you a new bike, what if I just buy you food instead. Help with your goals, because I intend to take on the Gym Challenge so going places to catch new pokemon is going to happen.”
Misty thought for a moment before a smile spread across her face. “I think I can live with that.” She stretched her hand out. “Misty.”
He looked at her for a moment before returning the gesture. “Ash.”
