they make a brief gas stop

Suddenly, Steve takes a different turn. "Where are we going dad?" asks Brandon, confused. "I need to refill the car with gas before we get home" replies Steve. "Ok" replies Brandon, a little bored.

Eventually, they reach the gas station and Steve starts to fill up the car. "Brandon, why don't you go inside the store there and get yourself a snack?" suggests Steve as he hands Brandon a few bills. Brandon smiles at this and replies, "Sure. Thanks dad". With that, he walks of to the convenience store. Meanwhile, Steve just waits, refilling his car, and thinking about his family. "I wonder if Brandon and I will ever be close again" he asks to himself.
