After Hayley gets home, and you all catch up (though she mentions nothing about why she was away, or want she did, to your disappointment) over a homecoming dinner. Afterwards, Hayley decides to talk to you. She feels bad not being able to tell that she is a witch, but knows that you'll find out, hopefully not in an unplesant way, on your and Mel's birthday.
"Hey, Hayley. Guess what I found? Mel must have dropped it" you say laughing, handling your sister a book. She instantly recognizes it, and her book turns to ice. "Mel dropped a blank book on 'magic'" you say laughing. "Hayley, you're not laughing, what's wrong?" you say, suddenly concerned at you're sister's frightenly troubled look.
Hayley doesn't answer. Instead she calls out. "Mel. Can you get Mom, and send her into John's room? She'll know what its about. Please don't come in as well."
