This choice: Mom leads you to a locked cabinent containing potions • Go Back...Chapter #4The potion cabinent by: Runner Mom smiles. "John. First I have to show you something. Believe me I keep my powers secret and unused for as long as I could to protect you. Both Hank and I didn't want... I wish your father could see this" mom sighs, as she leads you to a safe. Mom mumbers some words you don't understand, a a key suddenly appears.
"Invisibility spell. The key goes for this safe. If you have to use it, remember you can still feel for the key" mom says. You wonder what is so important that mom put a spell on the key. She opens a door, and and you see some sort of keypad. "I don't understand. If you're a witch, why use technology?"
"I use both, as a backup. The tech keeps witches out, while magic stops non witches. Also if anyone tries of force it open, security countermeasures come into effect. Imput the wrong codes, and a potion is administered through the skin. It takes a minute, but after that, the would be thief is nothing more than a one year old boy. Boys can't work magic" mom says. You can see her point, as she undoes the last lock. Inside you see dozens of bottles.
"My potion supply" mom says proudly. You look on in amazement. Most of the bottles at lined up in the safe, but some are locked away, as weel as about a dozen needles filled with some pink liquid. Mom sees your interest. "I keep the more dangerous stuff under tighter security" mom says, grabbing your hand. She pulls it onto a pad, and the second door opens. She picks up a needle. "John, whatever you do, don't get this near yourself. THis needle is filled with a potion that resets a witch's memory. I'm only showing you this in case something happens to me, or your sisters. Use them as a last resort"
"Why show me this, and tell me to keep away?" you ask confused. Mom sighs "John, this potion goes by another name, when its other properties was discovered. If given to a boy, he will become his female counterpart. Its known as the girl maker..." Without realizing it, you step back a pace. Mom looks at some of the other potions. "I was forced to keep some now restricted and banned potions because of the safe's security. She holds up another potion. "Double edged dagger" she says with distaste. "It also changes a boy into a girl, but the only cure is for the newly formed girl to accept her feminity. Kind of pointless. DON'T touch this bottle, John for any reason.
You're aghast. "Is there anything in here that won't change me?"
"You think magic is all about turning boys into girls? I admit that most of the stuff in here is feminine, but not all" Mom says, picking up a bottle that appears used often. "Perfect for those 'crying wolf'. Wonder why when you and your sisters were growing up, found yourselves feeling sick when you was faking?" You remain quiet.
Mom smiles, seeing two nearly empty bottles, and smiles mischieviously. "The thing with potions is that only a witch can brew them, but anyone can use them, even a witch's brother. She summons two water pistols, and fills the one of the left with a red liquid. "This will change your clothes. I bet you will make a great cheerelader, John"
"What!?!" you say, having no desire to do that. You have a crush on Megan, and won't be able to look at her, if you get caught dressed like that. Mom grins even more, knowing your crush. "If you want, you can have the one on the right. Its filled with 'sugar and spice'. I bet you can guess what that would do to you.
"Pick up a pistol. hit me, before I change you" mom urges. You indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
