Chapter #4

Playing Games

    by: Unknown
"It's something incredible! Can I get inside? It will probably be better if I showed it to you in the house!" I asked Suzy.

Suzy smiled softly and take a step to the side, clearing the way for me to get in.

"Sure, let's go the the basement, Cora and Keira are downstairs, we were playing board games. You don't mind?" She asked.

I pondered for a moment.

"No it's alright! The more the merrier!" I answered.

As we keep talking, Suzy closed the door and we proceeded to go down to the basement.

As we arrived, I took notice of Cora and Keira sitting and chatting at a table with a board game unfolded on top and some cardboard tokens placed on top of the game.

"Hey guys!" I said as we approach.

"Hey Matt!" Cora answered jovially while Keira smiles and nod a salutation.

Cora and Keira were cousins. Cora is naturally a redhead, though she likes to dye her hair. At that moment she had hulk green, which was interesting. The same age as Suzy and a good friend of hers. She was also a gamer/geek and often spent time with Suzy as they shared the same hobbies. The fact that she also secretly had a crush on her might also have helped.

Keira was Cora's younger slightly younger cousin. She was 18, also a redhead and not much of a geek, but she liked playing tabletop games with her older cousin and her friends. She was a volley-ball player in her school team and it showed in her athletic build.

"What are you guys playing?" I asked taking a seat as Suzy did the same.

"We're playing labyrinth master, a classic!" Cora said with a hand gesture and speech, jokingly mimicking a connoisseur.

Labyrinth. The game where you had to move a labyrinth around by sliding entire rows of tiles with one extra tile to make a path toward ingredients for a magical recipe.

The version in front of me was somewhat different from what I remembered. Someone had tinkered with the original game to add real walls to the tiles, giving an element of verticality.

"Yeah, I modified my game to look like this!" Cora said, "I find it more immersive like that!"

Want to make it even more immersive?" I asked mysteriously as I took out the remote.
