Chapter #5

Maya

My name is Maya. Or at least, that's the one I can remember. If I had another name, it was lost along with everything else. This morning I woke up in an abandoned hospital. Naked, with no memory of how I got there, who my family is or even my own name. Wandering the hospital, I found no sign of any other people. Even the front door was locked, and it seemed to have rust as if it hadn't been opened for awhile. I had to smash a window to get out, at which point I discovered I had strength beyond what my skinny frame would suggest. I leapt from the window, and surveyed the forest around me. I would have to get to civilisation, but which direction should I go. To my left, there was a faded road sign, pointing down a road. I could only make out three letters: F, T and Y. If there was a sign, there must be civlisation, but how far away was it? Would I survive long enough to make it there? Would my family be there... would they still want me?

To my right, a footpath led off through the forest. That might lead to a town, or perhaps an isolated farm or cottage. That might be better for me than trying to go to the city immediately, but what if they were related to whoever had put me here? Whoever was responsible for my wiped memories. Both options weren't ideal, but I would have to choose one.

You have the following choices:

1. Try to walk to the city

*Noteb*
2. Try the path

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
