Chapter #4
run for the open passage
by: Unknown
The enshrouded monk raises an index finger calmly to his lips:
'Shhhhhhhh.'
But before you can react to this weirdness, you hear a familiar skittering in the shadows -- the creature -- and take off instinctively down the open passage.
You run wildly fast in the dark of the corridor, the noise of your pounding heart filling your ears, and just above that the quick staccato of clawed feet on stone and ragged, feral breathing, getting closer!
You see a light, impossibly distant: a room! If you can only make it another 50 yards!
A bristly pseudo-pod of unimaginable horror flicks hungrily at your shoulder and you can feel hot, monstrous breath on your back!
But you're so close now, you can see the tall, iron-bound door ajar in a large, light-bathed chamber.
Your muscles are long past aching and you're gulping breath in an ecstasy of terror and adrenaline. You reach for the portal!
