Chapter #5

The Caves

    by: Beethoven Author IconMail Icon
All of it comes to you slowly. Your head slowly processes what it could remember. You were in the air, a harpy holding you and cackling madly. The talons hurt, and you were woozy from the high height and lack of clear vision. You didn't know what was going on, but you remember, before blacking out, the word...

"Hydro..." The voice that said it was feminine, but you couldn't catch the rest. When you heard the word, you felt a great splash of water send you and the harpy careening into the snow drifts. You then saw a fuzzy figure...with blonde hair sticking out of a hood...and green eyes...

You slowly lift yourself up. You see all your things near you in a neat pile, with your chest (And, if female, breasts) covered in medical tape. your shoulders bear the same. You bring a hand to your face and rub your head. Despite the fact you can tell you are still on the mountain, you only feel a slight chill despite your lack of clothing. You then realize with a start there is a fire near you. It is warm and bright, as is the figure next to it.

It's then you notice the girl. She has a fuzzy black cap on, with green eyes and pale skin. She has delicate hands that spew fire (Indicating her magical talent) and is wearing a fuzzy undershirt. Next to her is the same cloak you saw earlier. Her feet are bare and look incredibly soft and smooth, and her face bears a great smile when she sees you. "Is good! You're awake! Now I just find Mario, we finish the mining, and we go outpost." She said plainly, as if it made sense.

Which, knowing this place a little, soon does. This must be Edea, the leader of the Eisbrecher Outpost. Her Staltean accent is a dead give away- she and her brother Mario who only made the outpost five years ago. Five years ago was also the time the two semi known individuals found each other again- Edea had lived most her life in Stalt. She was a powerful and kind mage, known to practically hand out jobs only to do most of the work for her employees, giving them money even if they did nothing useful so long as they showed effort in helping them mine for ores or help rid the mountain of beasts.

"You caught by snow harpy. That no good." She said, shaking her head. "I save you with hydrotorrent. It very good water spell! Knock harpy down flat! I let harpy off with stern warning, know that it go to flock and tell about me and how it unwise to hurt humans and elves and other bipedial wanderers, da!" She said happily. "I then heal you. I outside, enjoying snow at time, Mario in cave mining. I bring you deep in then when I heal you." She explained.

"Oh. Thank you." You say honestly. You feel lucky such a thing happened. "So...we are just waiting for your brother then?" You ask.

"Da. He carry you to outpost. He strong like me! I provide cover in case of drider and yeti." She says simply. "You explore if want, but wounds are not healed fully. Bad idea to go outside." She said.

You decided to...

You have the following choices:

*Noteb*
1. Stay and talk with Edea. She's wise and loved by Eisbrechereans.

*Noteb*
2. Go and explore. The cave may hold richs!

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
