Chapter #6

FThe Outpost

    by: Beethoven Author IconMail Icon
"Is good you survived, lucky offspring of bitch." A female voice said, walking up to you. In her hand was a fireball, and she was covered in tons of fur despite her obvious magical power making it easy for her to heat herself up. She was clearly a mage. You couldn't see much, though she was taller than you, had on warm, fuzzy boots that tickles you slightly, and bright green eyes. She was smiling warmly, contrasting well with that fact she essentially just called your mother a bitch.

"Edea, this man/woman was found in the snow." Another man said. He was gruff and tall, but was also smiling warmly. He was dressed similarly to Edea. He had green eyes as well, and, judging by his height, you guessed that Edea and this man were siblings.

"Mario, this person...make good helper, ya?" She asked, eyeing the the man. Then you started to remember. There was an outpost on the mountain controlled by a well known mage by the name of Edea, her brother Mario being her second in command. They owned the outpost to help travelers, though they were also famous for hunting dangerous creatures and mining for precious gems to donate to their country. Edea herself had spent most of her life to the far north in Stalt, and had quickly picked up the accent, while her brother Mario lived down south in Qur. They had only about five years ago built the outpost, though already they ran a brisk business. They were also well known for their teamwork; Edea considered the brains and Mario the brawn, though both were quite powerful and wise. In fact, they alone were able to stop a Rylestian advance from invading the Kingdom of Eisbrecher, Edea using her magic to conjure an extreme snowstorm and Mario using his brute strength and the cover of the snow to down dozens of troops. While they were by no means unstoppable, they were great warriors.

Their skills in battle were surpassed only by their love for adventure and their kindness. They often offered jobs to those who needed it at the outpost, letting them help 'carry the gems' they mined (Despite both of them being easily able to do it themselves) or battle monsters with them (with them doing most of the work.) As long as you showed a good work ethic, they were willing to pay you.

At this point, Mario spoke up. "The lucky thin skin survived a yeti's punch. I think he/she could be great help. If they want, that is." He said, smiling at you. "Letting him/her help us mine is the least we could do after the rough trip up here.

You blush. Though the outpost is on the way to Eisbrecher, it's only the quickest way up coming from Rylestia...the OPPOSITE side you came from. "Um, well..."

"Is good idea Mario! Is good idea!" Edea said cheerily patting your back. "Oh, rock in boot..." She said, shaking off her boot and quickly tugging off her stockings. Her feet looked smooth and well kept- perfect for tickling. "So, traveler, you help us, or you go on to Eisbrecher, da? We already check your belongings- you not enemy. You go if you wish." She said.
