You hide.

You decide to hide as you may not be strong enough to fight that-- whatever it is.
"Come out," it screeched. "Don't hide from me!"
Its voice sent shivers scuttling down your neck and you can feel your heart slamming against your ribcage your hands start feeling sweaty even though you are shivering.
"Come out," the voice seems to come from every direction.
At the corner of your eyes, you notice a path shrouded by trees. Escape.
Should you go there? You will risk getting noticed by the creature as there was just a small bit of the path not covered...
