Suddenly you get the urge to glance over at Brian again, and as you suspected, he is preparing another paper plane. He scribbles something down onto the wing, aims, and throws it. You watch nervously as it sails through the air, hoping the teacher doesn't see it, but its flight path is abruptly stopped by... the side of Yasmina's head. Brian mouths a swearword and ducks under the desk to avoid the icy glare Yasmina shoots in his direction.
"Who threw this paper plane!?" she snaps, scrunching it up in her hand. "Ne joue pas avec moi!"
Her sudden outburst causes chuckles from a few of your classmates, you scowl at them as an indication to stop laughing. This lesson was not getting off to a good start.
"Look, I know who it was, and I'll have a word with him after class, okay?" you tell her reassuringly.
"Who was it?" she asks, and you gesture to Brian poking his head above the table slightly to check if she was looking.
"Him!" Yasmina snaps. "I knew it! I am going to show him-"
"Calm down, okay?" you say slowly, placing your hand on her shoulder in an attempt to comfort her. "He's an idiot, just ignore him."
Yasmina lets out a big sigh and slumps in her seat slightly. "Désolé. It is my first day here, I am a small bit nervous." she explains, ripping the scrunched-up paper plane to shreds with her left hand. A little bit nervous!? You thought she was going to totally flip out on you!
"Brian, you've earned yourself a detention for that. Stop picking on new students." the teacher says sternly.
"But I wasn't picking on her! I was just-"
"Any more arguing and I'll make it longer." the teacher interjects. "Now, everyone carry on with the work."
You glance at Yasmina and notice she is back to normal, besides from the shredded bits of paper on the floor. This girl has quite a temper...!
