Ultimately, Jen thought it would be a good idea to go to the doctor and try to find out just how she grew 16 inches seemingly overnight. She knew she was going to have to face her parents with this news eventually, so she figured it would be nice to have an explanation for their sake. And she'd owe it to her brother Mike, too, when he came home this weekend. Of course, if all the doctor could tell her was that she was huge, Jen was going to be very upset and annoyed over having wasted her time.
"Tonya? I think I should go to the doctor. Maybe they can tell me how the heck this is even possible? So...could you drive me there?" Jen asked her older sister in an almost pleading tone.
Tonya for her part had been planning on spending the rest of the day watching TV and listening to her music, after cleaning up the terrible mess in the kitchen, but Jen's request sounded reasonable. She replied, not wanting to get her bigger younger sister upset again but still trying to hide that fact from her, "Alright, fine. But after this you're helping me replace all the food you ate and clean up this mess!"
Jen shrugged and accepted the deal. It wasn't like it would be any different otherwise, and her new size might just make some of the tasks ahead less of a chore. So the two left the house again in Tonya's car and then drove to the local hospital. It was just a few blocks, so it wasn't a long drive.
Once they arrived at the hospital, Jen got out of Tonya's car and walked towards the doors for the walk-in clinic. She hardly felt as though her...condition was an emergency, as she wasn't bleeding everywhere or anything like that, so she had no intention of going into the emergency room for this. She entered with Tonya soon joining her, registered an appointment, and then took a seat.
About 10 minutes later, the doctor called Jen's name, and the dirty-blonde haired amazonian teen went into the doctor's examination room.
Dr. Tia Fairweathers was looking forward to seeing Jen again, considering she was the family doctor. She found Jen to be a bright and caring young teen, if a little obsessed about the growth spurt she was due for recently. She expected that Jen was seeking reassurance that it would come soon enough. What Dr. Fairweathers wasn't expecting however, was to see a buxom, towering young woman waiting for her. "Oh my... What happened to you, Jen?" she asked, having to look up to meet Jen's eyes.
"Um...I grew. Like a lot. Overnight. I...was kind of hoping you could tell me how this happened, Dr. Fairweathers." Jen replied sheepishly. She was getting used to her size, but was still a bit nervous over the matter.
Dr. Fairweathers nodded and replied, "Er, y-yes, I see that. Well, if you will just take off your shoes we can start getting to the bottom of this by going over the scales."
Jen complied and a few minutes later her measurements were recorded. Still 6'6" tall, 225 lbs, and 55-31-53 as she was this morning when Tonya measured her. Dr. Fairweathers then took Jen's blood pressure and listened to her heart and her lungs. After checking Jen's ears and her throat, she tested Jen's reflexes which elicited a raised eyebrow from both females.
"That's...not normal, is it?" Jen asked in surprise at how far her leg had kicked at the tap of the small mallet.
"Very unusual, yes. But another test is in order I think." Dr. Fairweathers answered as she retrieved her yard stick. Knowing what was coming, Jen held out her hand ready to try and grab the yard stick as it would fall through her hand. She had always done reasonably well with this, but was shocked at her reaction time once the test was performed. It seemed almost superhuman how quickly she had grabbed it and how easily she was handling holding it at the very end with just her thumb and forefinger.
"Huh. Guess that means I'd be a star at dodge-ball then..." Jen remarked.
Dr. Fairweathers pulled out a syringe and said, "Well, I think we're going to need a blood sample to figure this out now. Aside from how much you've grown, you're as healthy as a horse. I'd dare say that you make horses seem rather sickly by comparison!"
Jen shuddered slightly at the needle. She never liked them. The last time she got a flu shot, she was sick as a dog for a full week when normally she would feel almost fully recovered, if a tad weak, by that time. But still, this was important, so she reluctantly agreed and looked the other way, bracing herself. Dr. Fairweathers tried to pierce Jen's skin, but found it resisting far more than it should.
Eventually, she managed to get her blood sample and remarked, "I'd swear I'd have an easier time trying to stick a brick wall with this... I'll get this looked at immediately. Would you care to stick around for a little while longer? You can help yourself to the cafeteria or the vending machine if you'd like something to eat."
"Uh, sure! I don't mind." Jen said, also a little surprised at how resilient her skin had proven to be just now. And all it did was make her more curious as to how this happened, seemingly overnight no less...
