Chapter #4

Scaling the outer wall

The two men decided that their best option was to try and move around the zombies by going along the outer wall between windows. "You sure this is a good idea?" Smith asked as Eric opened the broken window. "Fuck no. We could fall, the other windows could all be locked, or any number of things. But this is the best chance we got unless one of them bastards learns to climb, which I think is unlikely." Eric replied back as he steped out onto the narrow row of bricks jutting from the prisons wall. He motioned for Smith to follow as he moved slowly sideways across the tiny inprovised walkway. There were only about 6 inches of footspace and one false move would send them plumeting to their doom. Eric, being calm and collected when he needed to be, was having no trouble with this little endevour. Smith, on the other hand was more use to the less physical aspects of crime such as working a chopshop or smuggling goods from location to location, and didn't like to put his own ass on the line. Unfortunately, the current situation called for him to take a few risks that would hopefully pay off. "We almost to the next window?" Smith asked as he tried to avoid looking down."We're about halfway done." Eric called back. "Pick up the pace a little, the sooner we get to the next window the sooner you don't have to worry about becoming a stain on ground." Smith gave him a glare as Eric shuffled along without noticing. "So, what do we do if this window is locked?" Smith questioned as he started to move a little faster. "We go to the next one." Eric replied. "And if that one is locked?" "Next one." "What if ALL of them are locked?" "Guess we're screwed then." Eric said with a laugh. "Great..." Smith mumbled as he began to sweat. Eric stopped all of a sudden when he came to the window, almost causing Smith to bump into him. "Why'd you s-" Smith began to ask. "We made it." Eric said as he bent down carefully to check the window with one hand holding onto the building for balance. Using his free hand Eric took his shank out of his pocket and pried the window open. "Good thing it wasn't locked." Eric taunted Smith. "Har har, now hurry up and get the hell inside." Smith retorted. Once both men were back inside they took a look around the room they were in. It appeared to be a small cleaning supply room as the shelves were stacked with things like paper towels and various spray bottles. There was also a door with a clear glass window that led out into the hallway. "What now...?" Smith asked, annoyed.
