Waiting for cookies

You decide to wait at the bakery until the Boyish Butterscotch Cookies are ready. It proves a more challenging idea than expected. Not because of anything anyone does, or the unaccustomed weight hanging off your chest, but because of the smell. The delicious, oh so tempting smell that radiates from the treats on display. Even knowing the sort of effects the treats are likely to have, it takes all your self-control not to approach the counter and order something else. It doesn't help that the bakery is quite popular, and every time someone leaves with a treat you seem to get a full blast of the drool-inducing smell.

Five minutes into your wait you find yourself sneaking almost constant glances at the various items on display. By ten minutes you've drifted closer to the counter, and are subconsciously digging in your purse for money, barely able to keep your covetous glances from turning into a purchase. In the end...
