Erin almost gave up to the temptation but the memory of her parents, who always encouraged her to eat healthy and stay away from the junk made her change her perspective. The burger no longer looked attractive, in fact it looked dangerous now that she remembered how fat her friends became.
"I don't want to! It's junk food... sorry for shouting" Erin said raising her voice a bit but feeling embarrassed right afterwards. Even if her grandparents loved this junk she shouldn't shout at them like that
"But honey, you don't want to eat anything on the house. You need to eat something" Erin's grandma said with concern
"I know it makes you fat but you are an athletic girl, you could lose it in no time!" her grandpa tried to reason with Erin
"Can I eat a salad? please? Sorry I don't want the burger" Erin said sheepishly. Both her grandparents were junk food lovers and their bodies showed it, but she really didn't want to become like them, and even if she was just a kid she knew it was wrong to demand what to eat from the relatives who were taking care of her after what happened to her parents
"Oh it's ok sweetie" The grandma said and ordered what Erin wanted, the grandpa looked less pleased about it but had no reason to keep pushing so just focused on his delicious lunch
"Ahh that hit the spot" grandpa said rubbing his prominent belly, an act that made Erin feel a bit disgusted but also a bit jealous, he did look satisfied! Her salad in contrast was enough to stop making her feel hungry, but it didn't satiate her like that
"Are you sure you don't want anything else? that salad was small" the grandma asked Erin and the 9 year old girl shook her head, though internally she was having doubts

Somehow Erin managed to convince the grandparents to make the extra effort and stock some healthy food along the way so she could eat at home, but living surrounded by junk food on the roof of 2 junk food lovers the temptations only grew greater and greater. Although Erin couldn't understand how on earth could they just keep eating different things over and over while they sat there watching TV she couldn't help to feel curious about what was so good about it. She also couldn't help but see it wasn't only her friends who became fat after a visit to McDonalds, but seemingly most people in town.
When she went to the park to play and practice sports first she noticed there were a good number of fat people but also a decent number of thin people, and there were a whole bunch of kids she could run around and play games with, as well as a couple of parents giving training on how to practice different sports. At first Erin wasn't allowed to play with them because an adult supervisor was required, but the trainers eventually relented as Erin showed her ability and the adults in charge understood her guardians were the grandparents that lived just nearby.
However, as time passed Erin was seeing less thin people on the streets and on the park itself, now the lively park was only hosting a dozen or so kids which limited the games they could play with and the sports practice were cancelled due to low attendance. This made Erin sad and made the physical activity turn from one of the things she loved the most to start feeling like a chore, something that wasn't going to be as good as it was before. Some of the kids, like her former friends, even took off to McDonalds right after a good session of play and Erin could see the damage the food was doing to their bodies until they never were seen again on the park, leading her to think maybe she should indulge if everyone else was doing it
