The Entity watched the library’s bustling activity with amusement but quickly noticed an issue. Without a librarian, the place felt a little chaotic. Someone needed to maintain order, organize the books, and keep things running smoothly. Its gaze landed on a teenage boy named Tyler, who was casually wandering through the aisles, a fantasy novel in his hand.
With a mischievous grin, the Entity snapped its fingers, and the changes began.
As Tyler walked, his gait slowed. His sneakers shifted into elegant black heels, and his jeans morphed into a sleek pencil skirt. His T-shirt transformed into a soft lavender blouse with a name tag that read “Ms. Evelyn Harper, Librarian.” His posture straightened, and his teenage awkwardness gave way to the poised confidence of a woman in her early thirties.
His hair grew long and silky, styled neatly into a professional low bun. His features softened into delicate beauty, his voice deepening into a calm, soothing tone. By the time he reached the end of the aisle, Tyler was no more. In his place stood Evelyn, the library’s diligent and graceful librarian.
Evelyn adjusted her glasses, looking around the library. “Hmm, seems like the mystery section could use some reorganizing,” she murmured to herself, clutching a clipboard.
She approached a nearby table where the cheerleaders sat chatting loudly. Harley was in the middle of recounting her latest text drama when Evelyn cleared her throat.
“Ladies,” Evelyn said, her voice firm but kind. “I know you’re excited, but please remember this is a library. Keep it down.”
The girls nodded sheepishly. “Sorry, Ms. Harper,” Brittany said, glancing at her friends with a guilty smile.
Evelyn smiled warmly. “Thank you. Enjoy your time here.”
As she walked back toward the front desk, she noticed Ethan flipping through his book about homemaking. “Ethan,” she said gently, “if you’re looking for more resources on family management, I can recommend a few excellent titles.”
Ethan’s eyes lit up. “Really? That would be amazing, Ms. Harper. Thank you!”
Evelyn gave a satisfied nod and returned to her station. She began typing diligently on the computer, completely immersed in her role as the library’s caretaker. To everyone else, Evelyn Harper had always been the librarian—calm, composed, and deeply knowledgeable.
The Entity giggled to itself, watching as Evelyn continued her work, blissfully unaware of the life she had led just moments ago. Now that the library was back in order, the Entity’s attention turned to the other visitors.
