He controlled himself, understanding the consequence of what sniffing her shoes could do. He cleaned diligently until his mother burst into her room, expecting to find a shoe sniffing Tom. She did not, and was disappointed. But she had a plan B.
"Tom, I invited Mike over to spend the night! I thought because you stayed home and cleaned my smelly shoes, you could use a reward." Tom was happy at first, but then remembered that he had lied to his mom about Mike hurting his back. Cathy knew it was a lie, and was going to make Tom wish he never said it.
"Thats ok Cathy" said Tom "Im kind of tired" But Tom was cut off and his heart sank when he heard the doorbell. "That must be him now!" Cathy smiled and left Tom sitting on her floor, wishing his mother would just let them have a night of video games. But he knew this was not the case.
"Mike! Come in." Cathy said as she greeted Mike. She took his things and set them inside. "Mike, I know you are ready to have fun, but I need you to join me in my room for just a sec" She said as she guided Mike upstairs. "Okay!" Mike agreed, but new he had no choice. He had no need to worry though, he had not done anything wrong lately.
As the two entered the room, Tom was still sitting on the floor, looking defeated. "Whats up Tom?" mike inquired. "Hey" Tom replied, still looking down. Cathy followed, and shut and locked the door behind them. "Come sit next to me on the bed" Cathy ordered to a confused Mike. She sat down and gave the spot next to her a pat. Mike sat down, and the fun began for Cathy.
"Tom tells me you boys were fighting and you purposely hurt his back. Now that is unacceptable, and you have to be punished" She calmly rubbed Mikes leg up and down as she said this, as if consoling him because of a death in the family. But really by keeping her hand on him, she was controlling his vocal cords to stop him from making an audible yell for help. Tom began to try to explain, but was silenced by a stare from Cathy. "Let me handle this sweetie" "I never did that that never happened!" Mike started to argue, but felt his vocal cords tighten til he could not utter a word.
"Now you are lying to me Mikey,which makes me think you need to be punished even more. Because I know Tom would never lie to me, right Tom?" She asked, looking at Tom. Mike looked at Tom With fear and question in his eyes, knowing much more was at stake here than a simple grounding or time out.
Tom knew that if he admitted to lying, he would be punished severely, and Cathy would lift the ban and make him a slave. But he also knew that admitting to a lie would get Mike killed to, she would not let him go now. But maybe it was worth a shot...   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
