This choice: Robert stays, but fires Ria • Go Back... Robert recovers from the sight of what he just experienced. He felt shaky but also angry.
"So just to be clear, I am in charge of this house as it belongs to me?" he clarified.
"That's right, Robert", stated Michelle.
"And you all work for me, keeping this house clean and safe right?"
"Yes, Robert", agreed Michelle. Robert then turned to Ria.
"I don't like being threatened. This is my house and I won't have anyone threaten my life, especially not someone who I am entrusting my property to. How long had you worked for my uncle?"
Ria stiffened as his tone and the use of the word 'had' became clear. It was clear what Robert was getting at.
"About 2 years", she replied, worried.
"Well, 8 weeks' termination pay seems fair for two years of loyalty, but I will throw in an extra two. Thank you for your services, Ria, but I don't think I will need them any longer!" he declared.
"You insulted me!" she protested. "It was a joke!"
"And you threatened to kill me! In my own house! It's weird enough to have magical maids, but I won't have an attempted murderer working for me! Thanks for your services, Ria; but they are no longer required."
Ria turned pale and looked at Michelle for help.
"Robert, I can't imagine how upset you were about this. I know what Ria did was terrible, but I am pleading with you to let her stay! She really is a good person, she just gets hot headed", implored Michelle.
Robert paused for a moment, before he looked to Michelle.
“Michelle, can you transfer magic from one person to another?” he asked.
Michelle nodded wearily. "Yes, but..what are you getting at?"
“Then, if Ria hands her magic over to me, so that I know she won’t try this again, she can stay.”
“For how long?” squealed Ria.
“For as long as I decide it is necessary! It's your choice, Ria!" he told her.
Ria turned white, but nodded. She drooped her head down.
“Here…here we go!” stammered a nervous Michelle as she began the process.   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
