This choice: She's pretty strong for such a small girl. • Go Back...Chapter #7She's pretty strong for such a small girl. by: NVR   The shy Hinata left the Hyuga compound getting ready for another training day with Team 8. So far she wasn't making a lot of progress on her desire to change herself and was still disappointed that she wasn't in Team 7 with Naruto, but she reasoned it wasn't all bad, she looked up at her sensei Kurenai as a role model of a strong and capable woman, and her teammates were also supportive, in their own peculiar ways.
She was still a bit frustrated in balance, because she knew despite her powerful Byakugan she was still the weakest member in the team. She lacked the strength, ferocity and confidence in her skill Kiba had to land a hit with her gentle fist style and cut his chakra off, while Shino's way of attacking seemed to counter all her strengths as a ninja. But as she reminded herself of her inspirations and the objective she had she noticed something glowing in an alley that caught her attention.
"Eh? What's that?" She approached carefully not knowing what could cause such a glow. Could it be something valuable someone dropped by accident? Getting closer she noticed it was actually a stone that seemed to be radiating with some alien glow. It scared her, but at the same time it entranced her, making her feel compelled to get closer, to touch the stone, to take it.
However, the moment she touched the stone a bright flash stunned her and she recoiled, falling on her butt from the shock. It took her an instant to recover her senses but when she did there was no stone, no alien glow around in the alley anymore, and not even the memories of what she was doing there.
"What did just.. what am I doing here? I can't be late for training" Hinata focused, forgetting all about what just happened and running towards the training site, barely noticing how quicker she was going and how little effort it was taking her.

"Alright, let's spar again today. Kiba, Hinata, you're up" Kurenai sensei called her students after a grueling taijutsu session where Hinata was delighted of her progress. It was like today everything clicked for her and her strikes were now noticeably more powerful, to the point Kurenai praised.
"Again? You know how this will go sensei.. sorry Hinata, I will try to go easy" Kiba arrogantly said
"I need to see how you're improving so don't hold back.. after all, today she impressed me a lot" Kurenai countered, smiling at her shy student, trying to give her that extra confidence she needed. Kurenai knew Hinata's weak point was self esteem, but she wondered if based on today's performance it was hindering her strength to such a big extent.
"You saw what she did to that tree, I would be careful" Hinata got another shot of confidence from the unusual teasing comment from her silent teammate. Even he noticed! Everyone noticed her growth! Maybe she would be able to do it today...
"Ha, I'm still too fast today, even if she ate her protein" Kiba snarled, although he nodded at his sensei letting her know he would do as instructed
"Fight!" Kiba as usual took the initiative and looked to overwhelm Hinata with a barrage of taijutsu to finish the match quickly, but he got surprised noticing she was holding on, and what looked more strange was that Hinata herself looked surprised. She wasn't even using the Byakugan! She seemed to be only using taijutsu too, but since the last sparring where he could easily go past her defenses, now she was countering everything, even reading some of his movements.
Kiba smiled at his teammate's progress and upped the ante, seeing finally a challenge in Hinata, until she decided to go on the offensive. Hinata took a while to do so not because of lack of confidence or because she was testing Kiba, just out of sheer surprise, she knew Kiba was quick but compared to the last time they sparred he now seemed so.. slow.. Even second guessing herself she was able to block his attempts, and she felt it wasn't even taking her a lot of effort. Had she really become so stronger in such a short time? There was only one way to know, seeing easily an opener she landed not a gentle fist to cut his chakra, but a normal punch.
It sent Kiba sprawling to the floor and crashing against the base of a tree, to the shock of everyone.
"W-what the?" A dazed Kiba wondered before slowly getting up and ready to use his full power
"Wow" Kurenai just said with a grin, and Shino raised an eyebrow noticing the doubt in Hinata that was still there.
