With trembling steps, Anna tiptoes into the still, silent room. It appears to be an old, dusty closet or other storage area. While most 15 year old girls might consider such a find of no importance, Anna's love for mysteries kicks-in, and she's excited to see what she might find amidst the various forgotten old items.
With only the glimmer of light from her room to guide her, Anna retreats back from the entrance and bounds up the basement stairs to the kitchen to grab the flashlight out of the closet. Flashlight in hand, Anna stops long enough while upstairs to ascertain what she'd already expected: As usual, her Dad and older siblings were off busy doing whatever people with busy lives tended to do.
Excitedly, Anna leaves a message with her best friend since the family arrived in the area, the even smaller and shyer Korean exchange-student, Kim: "Kimmy! It's Banana! Guess what?!? I just discovered a secret room off of my bedroom in the basement! Call me back when you get home from your little brother's birthday party, kay?".
And with that, she again heads downstairs. Flashlight clutched in both hands, she again tiptoes down into the cluttered room. It appears to be furnishings and garments from at least a century prior, although most of the antiques are draped by heavy sheets. Seemingly drawn to a tall stand of some sort, Anna removes the canvas covering to reveal a beautiful full-length mirror.
Gazing at her reflection, she feels a sudden wave of faintness. She manages to keep her balance, and is dumbstruck as the reflection in the mirror begins to not only move of it's own accord, but to change in unusual ways. It's still her Anna views in the murky, dark glass, but it's a version of herself in another time and place, in very different circumstances:
Choice 1: She envisions herself as Nnaa the Leopard Girl, springing through the forests and jungles like some feral offspring of the big-cats, leading them to protect the jungles of some alternate world.
Choice 2: She envisions herself as Aann, one of the beautiful, winged nymphs of the Tryphidian Forests of Glarmus-19.
Choice 3: Other? Think up some other alternate version of Anna
