There in the reflection, you see a character you could only remember from the Saturday morning anime you've watched. It's Ash Ketchum. A living and breathing Ash Ketchum. You have this feeling that your face, your new reflection, does not fit in the logic of this world. It's wrong. It's way too cartoonish to exist in this realistic world. You feel a wave of wrongness, and a desire to make things right. Your heart is heaving and every breath becomes an inch shorter. You need to get this costume off and fast. Your mind is nothing but this desire to correct this mistake.
You grabbed for something, a hole or some sort at the back of your neck. But you found no such thing. You open your mouth and the boundary between costume and your body is nonexistent. There were no indication that your real body is underneath this Ash costume. Even your panicking voice sounded like the real one.
"Thai-this must be a joke!" you said with same voice and inflection.
You were panicking hard. Your head writhing to the beat of your heart. Your chest is tightening and you are losing your breath. The world around you swirled into darkness as your mind crumbled into non-consciousness.
You woke up moments later to a location unknown to you. You're pretty sure you're not in your bathroom anymore, let alone in the state of Oregon. You find yourself sleeping inside a tent with nothing but a shirt and your boxers. In your hand was this zipper and on your right was a sleeping yellow cat. Strange? It's tail is all weird and it's fur was too vibrant to be a cat. Like someone dropped a chemical dye on the poor animal.
You look closer on the creature and found brown steaks on its side and at the base of its tail. And speaking of tail, it was crooked in several joints to give it the look of a thunderbolt.
"No," You said with Ash' voice. "This cannot be real."
The creature stirred awake. "Pi- pika?" It rubbed its eyes and looked at you with confusion. "Pika-pi?"
"Pikachu?"
"Pi- pi- Pika-pi?" It was saying its own name but you get the gist of what it was trying to say. It was asking for breakfast. And quite frankly, you're quite hungry too. Lucky for the two of you, you smelled something cooking outside the tent. When you opened it, you saw your companions sitting around a campfire. Brock was there cooking while Max was playing with Bonsly. May was nowhere to be found though.
Pikachu squeezed at the door tent and out into the open where he ran towards a food bowl Brock is preparing.
"Quite the hungry one are you today, Pikachu?" Brock laughed.
You cannot believe the things you're seeing. Somehow and in someway, you've been transported to the Pokémon world as Ash Ketchum. The feeling of wrongness you felt earlier disappeared. Everything is normal and in their proper places. The desire to break out of your skin is nonexistent. You feel comfortable in this body you're in.
"Ash, come already. Your food is getting colder by the second."
"I'm coming!" You said.
You ate your breakfast while Brock and Max talked to each other. You were simply listening and admiring how real the food you're eating. Everything you're feeling is real.
You've also eavesdropped where May is. She forgot something back in her home so she came back to fetch it. She asked them to continue to the next city where she'll meet them.
You finished your meal and helped Brock clean up the plates.
