“Uh, right, sorry I’m just a bit tired; do you know where Stella is though?” You say.
“She’s in our room doing her homework! You know how little Stella is, so smart and always working hard at school! I wish I was as smart as her!” Rebecca says in a tone very reminiscent of when Stella would talk about any of her older siblings.
You enter the girls’ room and see Stella sitting in front of a laptop working on something. Her clothes look more mature compared to what she would usually wear and she is typing quite fast, which is impressive considering how small her fingers are.
“Hey Stella, whatcha doin’?”
She turns around with a slightly annoyed expression on her face, which is something you’ve never really seen before,
“I’m working on a report for chemistry; do you want something? If you want me to do your homework for you, I already told you I’m not doing that anymore.”
“Riiight, I was just checking how you’re doing. By the way, what grade are in again?”
She looks at you with another striking expression, her cute face contorting to a look of even more annoyance and ever so slight bewilderment.
“You’re joking, right? You already know I’m a sophomore in high school, there’s no possible way you forgot your little ten year old sister is a grade above you. Did you hit your head or is this some kind of prank you and Miles are pulling?”
The tone of voice she speaks to you with catches you slightly off guard, it’s one you’ve never heard come out of her mouth before. You had never even heard that tone come from Rebecca either. Something really must have changed with reality when you swapped their brains.
