...to school. Summer vacation had ended recently, you were still on your second week. It was too bad, the teachers did not feel the need to ease you in, they just immediately piled on the work. The free time you had was a distant memory... no more Dragon Age.
When you opened the door, you were immediately assaulted by a gust of warm air. Your prediction was correct, today would be a hot day. You took one last look through the book bag. Textbooks, pencils, notebooks... God, this was so much easier to organize in middle school. You had everything. Hoisting your book bag on your back, you set out for school...
Three minutes later, you had arrived. You were one of the rare students who lived within walking distance. Well, you and...
"Hey Lara!"
You spun around. Making his way toward you was your best friend, Nathan. Just behind him, you saw Rebecca and Catherine. Rebecca acknowledged your presence with a wave, but Catherine just ignored you and kept walking.
"Hi!" You waved back. Nathan walked beside you.
"What do you have this morning?" Nathan asked.
"Math." You bit your lips. "Algebra I, specifically."
You admit, math was not your strong point. Well, it wasn't exactly a weak point, but considering that Nathan was already in Algrebra II, it did make you feel a little self conscious. You were much better when it came to the humanities.
"Oh." Nathan muttered. "I have literature."
"What do you have after that?" You asked.
And so, the both of you continued talking about classes. Eventually, you both hit a fork in the road.
"See you." Nathan turned to walk up the stairs, to his class. You proceeded to the locker room. For some reason, Nathan didn't use his locker, he just carried his bag with him wherever he went. It was kind of weird.
You came rather early, so the locker room was mostly deserted. Just some miscellaneous classmates. You only recognized a couple of them: Adela, Lionel, and of course, the master of cliques herself, Nancy. You couldn't help but grimace at her. For some reason, this particular morning, she was discussing something with Lionel, the school nerd. How odd. You could never imagine that Nancy would get caught dead with the guy, especially after some of his more... explicit tastes came to light; tastes that would make any man... or woman gag.
Well, not your business, as long as you could stay away from Nancy, you were happy. You went to your locker...
