Michelle and the kids had been on the road for almost 3 hours now; with about 7 to go before they reached Orlando. Michelle was impressed, and slightly concerned, by how at ease Robby and Lilly were with being little kids again. They were so focused on watching the SpongeBob DVDs she bought for them, that Michelle found herself forgetting they were really teenagers.
Michelle was about a ¼ of the way through South Carolina when she heard a voice behind her say, “Mommy, I have to go potty.”
Robby and Lilly sounded so similar at that age, she had to glance back to see which one was talking. Judging from the pained look on Robby’s face, it was a safe bet he was the responsible one. Seeing a sign for a McDonald’s up ahead, she said, “We’ve been cooped up in this car for a while; why don’t we take a lunch break?” smiling to herself as she turned back to driving, Michelle said, “There’s a McDonalds up ahead; we can stop there for lunch.”
Robby and Lilly squealed excitedly at the prospect of going to McDonalds, which was another thing Michelle had to get used to. It seemed that Lilly’s aversion to fast food didn’t transfer over to her 6-year-old personality.
They arrived at the restaurant just in time as Robby was squirming in his booster seat to hold it in. Michelle barely had time to take him out of the seat before he bolted inside the restaurant to use the bathroom. She made a mental note to lecture him about running off without her.

Michelle was sitting alone at the table; looking at her phone while Robby and Lilly fooled around in the play area. Seeing how much fun they were having made Michelle wish she could be that young again. Perhaps once they were back from vacation, Michelle could turn them all into little kids for the dad.
