The Curse of Sandai Kitetsu

    by: Lelouch Author IconMail Icon
"Ha!...Ha!...Ha!" In the middle of a dojo-esque room stood one man. In his hands were a single long blade that he swung repititively, roaring with each swing. Sweat littered the man's body from the arduous hours but he didn't care; he swung more and more. The man was Roranoa Zoro, first mate of Straw Hat Luffy, master swordsman, and ex-pirate hunter. He was in the middle of his typical training and had finally decided to take a minor rest.

Almost right away his legs gave way and Zoro fell to a knee, gasping for air. "Ha.....ugh.....hu...." He stared almost furiously at the blade in his hands, Sandai Kitetsu. A powerful and effective blade, but a cursed one; or so Zoro was told by the man he got it from. Everyone who had wielded this blade before died of odd causes. At times it even seemed like the weapon had a mind of its own, a stubborn one; and Zoro was training to bend it to his will. It was one of the main reasons he trained like this; if he couldn't make a stubborn sword listen to him Zoro didn't deserve to beat Mihawk like he desired. Zoro was grateful he was on dry land for this though, he and his crew had docked on this island and shortly afterwards Zoro found an empty dojo; one thing led to another and soon he was training vigorously. Training on a ship was good and all but nothing beat good ol dry land. Thankfully the Straw Hat crew was supposed to be spending a few days here to restock, giving Zoro plenty of time to train in a proper setting.

Still panting Zoro rose back to his feet and stared at the blade further. Images of his past came to mind, images of sparring with Kuina....and losing. His promise to her, battles til now. He had come a long way for some rough and tumble brat, he grinned at how Kuina would probably think of him now. And of course, by thinking of his childhood friend Zoro's mind came to... her. Tashigi of the Marines, a woman who looked almost identical to Kuina apart from age, she was like her in every way; strength, skill....beauty....Zoro shook his head, she was the enemy, this was no time for fantasizing about her!

She's the enemy. And if the time comes. I will have to take her down, I can't hold back because of old friends. It's how everyone would want it, Luffy, the gang, Kuina, and even Tashigi herself.

Energized by his memories Zoro gripped his sword tighter than ever, for a brief instant; because in the next instant his hand suddenly felt a sharp pain which caused him to drop his sword. The tip of Zoro's finger was bleeding for some odd reason, investigation of Sandai Kitetsu revealed why. One long, sharp point was potruding from the hilt, something that was never there before. Zoro laughed when he saw it, "So the cursed sword wants to hurt me eh? Bring it!" The sword naturally did nor said nothing, but...for some reason Zoro had the feeling he was being mocked. He stared at his finger again and gasped.

Vision...growing hazy....body...suddenly weak... Zoro's legs gave way and the man began to fall, his eyes locking on to his blade one last time. Damn sword...what did you do? It held it's mocking silence as Zoro fell into unconciousness. It was a dreamless rest, couldn't have lasted more than a moment before Zoro awoke, to a great surprise.

He may not have been the smartest, but Zoro was no dimwit like his captain. Before him was the cursed blade he dropped, as were his other two blades which somehow fell, his clothes were too; all extremely massive. Zoro had shrunken! Yet he was oddly calm, he just grinned and walked his naked body to the cursed Sandai Kitetsu. "This all you got? A little downsizing? With all the weirdstuff in the sea I'll be back to normal in a flash!" Again nothing remotely like a response came. But a thought did come to Zoro; what if it was just timing? What if there was an enemy who did this? He quickly braced himself at that thought and looked around; no enemies....it looked as if it might really have been the sword that did this.

Logic told Zoro to remain on guard, but his heart said his sword had done it somehow so he turned to face it yet again. "Now....mind telling me when I can look forward to thrusting you into an enemy again?" This time the sword actually did something, it didn't physically move or anything of the sort but; Zoro's blood on the point that stabbed him...it dropped a drop of blood and Zoro paled. He might've been paranoid but...the sword seemed to be saying Zoro's death would end it.

Again Zoro shook off the oncoming shock, "Please, like a sword of all things can take me down. Even if you somehow are alive I have no reason to fear you!" But it wasn't the sword Zoro had to be nervous about, it was the person who knocked on the dojo entrance. A gasp escaped Zoro as he eyed the door, a feminine voice on the other side asked to be let in; then without waiting too long opened the door. Zoro gasped as he recognized the girl....
