Chapter #4

The Chess Master Gets Outplayed

Being killed sucked, as Lelouch could attest to. There is a shooting pain and then a feeling of dizziness, after that feels like your falling. It’s a very disorientating and it makes you want to throw up. Luckily, it ends quickly and there is only darkness after that. Now for most people that would be the end, but for Lelouch, it was the beginning of something much bigger and much smaller.

“It’s time to wake up and welcome a new day.”

Lelouch groaned and reached for the spot where he had been stabbed as soon as he awoke. It felt strange not to feel any kind of wound over his heart because he could clearly remember the blade sinking it. But there was no wound, no death for him and if what C.C. had said was true, there would be no death for him anytime soon. The day he was to die, she told him, as calm and cold as ever; that there was a way he could die, but live on. The details she had given him had been scarce, but the general gist of it was simple; C.C. had the ability to make him live a second life, but there would be a price. When Lelouch had heard what the price was going to be he had barely believed it. He should have known better then to disbelieve the Gray Witch.

“Aren’t you going to say thank you?”

Staring up, Lelouch had to crane his neck back to see C.C.’s face. She stared down at him in her palm, as naked as the day he was born and only an inch tall. Lelouch stared up with a small smile at the giantess, amazed that she had been telling the truth. She had told him that she could resurrect him with a special Geass after his public death, but he would only be an inch tall. She told him his size could be readjusted over time and that there was one specific side effect that she had no control over; once he is resurrected, he could never die. When C.C. told him he could make everyone think he was dead and live on forever, he jumped on the opportunity. Spending a little time shrunk seemed like a small price to continue living.

“Thanks C.C.,” Lelouch halfheartedly said up to his giant savor as he tried to get to his feet on C.C.’s giant palm. Being shrunken was so strange, everything looked so insanely huge that it felt like he was in a whole other world. The ground looked like it was hundreds of feet away and the room around him seemed big enough to fit two stadiums inside. It was hard to recognize the giant surroundings, but it looked like a hotel room. “Where are we?”

“I’m staying at a small inn in Japan. You were out for two weeks. I had to carry you around in my pocket the whole time. You’re lucky you don’t have to eat and drink or you probably would have died. By the way, in case you’re interested, everyone thinks your dead including your sister and Kallen,” C.C. explained evenly and Lelouch nodded. Everything would fall apart if anyone found out he wasn’t dead. Luckily, his new size would help him hide. He could stay like this for a few decades, maybe travel around with C.C. as her tiny companion and years later when his face was just a memory, he could come back and walk the streets openly. No one would second-guess him for being a deadman decades after his death. It was the perfect plan for the world’s greatest chess player.

“So C.C. lets look at a map and see what we got. If we are going to be traveling together from now on I think it’s time I start making the decisions. But first, you know where I can get some pants?” Lelouch asked, covering himself meekly as he waited for C.C. to do what he told her. She raised her brow at the tiny boy giving her orders before smirking softly at him and reaching out. “C.C.! What are you…” Lelouch began to say but the air was forced out of him as C.C. pinched her thumb and forefinger around his waist and lifted him up. He was carried high into the air as C.C. stood up, staring at the tiny boy that would be king with a growing smile.
He looked so cute believing he still had power, it almost hurt C.C. to break that delusion.

“Silly boy. You were once my knight but now your nothing. Did you really think I was going to take care of you for the rest of your life. Your just a bug now, not a king and you no longer give orders. I do.”

“How can you do this to me?” Lelouch sputtered, all his grand dreams coming crashing down as he stared into the cruel golden eyes of the woman that had given him a second chance at life. It seemed like some kind of cruel joke that she’s turn her devotion around and degrade him to nothing but an insect. Did his size really make her think he was nothing or did she always think that way of him?

“Because you agreed to it. You accepted a second chance at life without thinking of what role you’d be taking. You owe me your life and I own you,” C.C. told him plainly, surprised to find he hadn’t thought about what she might do to him until now. She told him his new role in life. Knowing he would fight back, they always did. However, in the end, they all ended up thanking her for the honour of letting them kiss her feet. She told him in four words what he was now.
