The young man sifted through the scrolls, the other Amazons in the building sleeping peacefully.
"Where is it..." he muttered, "The fool said that this would solve all my problems... Where did that old ghoul hide it..."
Reflexively, Cologne lashed out with her cane in her sleep, hitting nothing and muttering 'stupid boy' before turning over in bed.
The young man flinched at hearing Cologne, and kept still for a few long moments. When he was certain he hadn't been heard, he continued searching.
Finally, he found the scroll, recognizing the Chinese characters.
"Finally... Once I cast this spell, everything will be all right!"
THAT woke someone up.
"Who there?" Shampoo said, yawning and slowly climbing out of bed, grabbing a bonbori hammer.
The young man bolted, running out of the city as fast as he could. To his surprise, he had made it back to where he had set up the ritual the old man told him about, despite not looking where he was going. Praising his good fortune, he sat down and unsealed the scroll.
The characters were ancient, far different from modern Chinese, and he wasn't sure at times he was reading them right. But he slowly cast the spell, chanting the ancient words.
Then the altar exploded.
It was only the man's training that saved him from dying, as he managed to roll to his feet as he landed, relatively unhurt, and dodge the metal shards flying his way.
He sighed sadly, and wondered if the effort was worth it...
Mousse sighed, and cleaned his glasses, laying down for the night. He went to sleep, dismissing this as another failed plan. He didn't know how well he had succeeded...
