A strange book

Joe slowly opened the well wrapped package, carefully pulling back the cardboard flaps. He stared intently at what was inside.

"MAGICKA CENTRAL presents, The Book of Growth: Female Edition" It read in fine silver handwriting on the front cover. Just below it was a smaller caption; "Complete with spells, potions and incantations to fit all your growing needs!" He blinked a few times. This couldn't be real, he thought to himself. Erin has to be pulling a prank on me. He looked at the book again, scanning for any potential errors.

Joe narrowed his eyes; he couldn't find any imperfections on the cover, and it looked like it had been printed off by a professional company. "Very funny Erin," he said to himself with a brief chuckle. However his curiosity got the better of him, and he picked up the strange book, setting it on his bed.

Joe turned the cover page to see a long table of contents, divided into three main sections with a description under each;

Spells- A set of words usually followed by a gesture that trigger a direct impact on the world. (See more information about "Spells" on page 4)

Potions-Instructions on how to properly brew various magical liquids that have an affect on those who ingest them (Page 25).

Incantations- "Enchantments" for inanimate objects (such as clothing or jewelry) that trigger a spell when certain requirements are met (Page 43).

Joe shook his head in confusing. For a practical joke, this was all really complicated. His curiosity perked up, and for just a moment he wondered if maybe, just maybe, this book was legitimate.

He got up and opened his bedroom door, peering out into the hall. For a minute, Joe wondered why the house was so quiet. He then recalled that his little sister Mia had a dentist appointment today, and his mother was accompanying her there. He breathed a sigh of relief. Joe loved his family, but it was nice to have the house to himself for an hour or two. He made his way downstairs and poured a bowl of cereal.

In the middle of his breakfast, Joe suddenly stopped eating as he realized something...
