Chapter #4The Amagi Challenger by: Vfan   It was a bright new day in Inaba, Third Year Student Yukiko Amagai and Chie Satonaka were walking down the Samegawa Flood Plain as always, looking similar to how they looked last year, except Chie finally started to 'develop' a bit. They soon were met up with by Naoto Shirogane, who had finally ditched her facade of being a man and dressed in the Yasogami High school female attire, and Rise Kujikawa who had grow a few inches, as well as a bigger bust line to her male fans delight. "Morning Senpai."
"Good Morning Rise-Chan." Yukiko said brightly.
"So you hear the rumor about a new transfer student? They say he's a Regional Pro at video games, gets high scores in everything, beats pro players, even gets in on early testing seats and early copies of the latest games." Chie said wanting to stir a conversation.
"Oh, Tohiro Shujo? I've met him once during a charity drive where he bet against some of the best local players in the city it took place in, he crushed them and gave all his charity to food for the poor." Rise said.
"Oh yeah I think I saw that once, course you still made three times that with your dancing, but he really did take out a lot of people." Chie replied.
"I don't quite get video gamers." Yukiko said.
"There are all types Yukiko-sempai, there are those who play for fun, for sport, stress relief, they're like normal people. Even if those people who analyzed Mitsuo Kubo would say otherwise." Naoto said calmly.
"Ugh don't remind me of him." She said somewhat disgusted.
It was then they saw a kid with a dark blue baseball cap turned backward, glasses and the Yasogami high uniform being picked on by bullies. "Well if it ain't the new hotshot of the school, you honestly think you're popular here? To us you're just some big geek."
"Hey that's Shujo-kun!" Rise said angry that the bullies were attacking him.
"Hey! What do you guys think you're doing!?" Chie shouted.
"Heh if it ain't Satonaka, look missy we're just introducing this kid to our policy here, no Uber geeks around!" The bully pushed Shujo into another bully who held him ready to beat him down.
"Is there a problem here?" A famliar voice said as second year Kanji Tatsumi walked up.
"Ah shit it's Tatsumi! Beat it!" The bullies ran away at the mere sight of Kanji.
"Friggin punks, hey kid you ok?" Kanji asked.
"Y-Yeah, thank you all for trying to help." Shujo said.
"I'm Tohiro Shujo."
"I can't believe they were picking on you like that." Yukiko said.
"It's okay Miss Amagi, I know they aren't worth getting angry over."
"You know me?" Yukiko asked puzzled.
"I stayed at your inn once two years ago during a trip to a gaming tournament, you never spoke much to me." He replied.
"Oh is that it, well I've changed since then."
"Is that so? Was this 'Amagi Challenge' I've also heard about after that change?" He asked.
"Ughhh People still bring that up? I thought I told them I'm not some game!" Yukiko said angry.
"Well you are one of the more beautiful girls in the school senpai." Rise said.
"Well if you guys need me I'll be in class." Kanji said walking.
"Oh that's right we better hurry on to class!" Chie said rushing on.
The girls all started hurrying sans Naoto who looked at Shujo. "Hmm something wrong?"
"No, it's nothing. Just a feeling of Deja Vu. Like you're familiar."
"Familiar?" Shujo asked.
"Like I said it's nothing." Shirogane walked away from Shujo who walked to Yasogami as well.
After school Yukiko and Chie were walking out when Shujo walked up. "Hello girls."
"Ah Shujo-kun, what is it?"
"I was wondering if you two would like to eat out? I have plenty of Yen from my last tournament."
"Oh, ummmmm sure?" Yukiko was taken aback by this, she was wondering if he was participating in the Amagi Challenge like many who asked her out.
"I don't believe it, that kid got to the 1st checkpoint of the Amagi Challenge!" A student whispered to another.
"He'll never make it to the 2nd one, Amagi would never hold his hand, probably reeks of plastic from controllers."
"Hey Naoto, have you seen how many hits my blogs get? If I was to trash talk some students, I think half of the region would know." Rise said walking by and stating this fact louder then usual.
"My, those people would be embarrassed for weeks, good thing no one spreads nasty rumors." Naoto answered back the two students leaving the scene.
At Junes Chie and Yukiko had grilled steak with Shujo the two put down their utensils and sighed peacefully . "DEElicious!"
"Thanks for the meal Shujo-kun."
"It's just my way of saying thanks and hello Miss Amagi."
"Please you can call me Yukiko."
"Okay Yukiko-san."
"Man being a big shot gamer must be great, playing games and getting money for it, I bet everyone wished they had your job."
"It's not all fun and game Chie-san, I have to practice all the time to ensure my ranking stays high, meaning I have little time for the more important things in life, seeing nature's splendor, real friends and more importantly...ah never mind." Shujo said as Chie looked bad knowing what the last part was, but could tell Yukiko was oblivious to the fact.
"Well we should hang out again sometime."
"Yes now that I've found a place to stay that isn't too far from all the regional areas that hold the tournaments I can try to have a normal life, and I'd like friends very much."
"Well we'll see you." The girls said leaving.
That night, it had began to rain, the drops hit the window like mad, loud thuds from large drops, Shujo was in his bed arms over the sheets, glasses on the table, he had a dream, a black haired maiden in a meadow large and nude, he woke up,
