Move into one of Mary's friends

You return to the table in Allison's company, give Sam a quick peck on the cheek, and thank him for agreeing to cover your absence in Dr. Brown's Russian history class. You then gather up your books while carefully watching Allison and Karl out of the corner of your eye. Allison is expecting you to go off with her to see Professor Siletsky; Karl, you know, has a poetry workshop. Both of them would make suitable hosts: They are close to Mary, and both are now involved in planning a confrontation with the military, so you wouldn't losing touch with your larger goals. At the same time, they are distant enough from it that they are not consumed to the same degree Mary would be in fighting your fight. You decided to move from your father into Mary because she would be a less stressful home; by the same token, Allison and Karl would be even more comfortable homes from which to wage a fight.
