her brother goes to st x
gabe? you probably know him
That's the series of texts you shoot off from the burner phone to Vee letting her know where you are. You wanted to tell her yourself as opposed to telling the Kristen golem because you're now a little paranoid about anything leaking out. Not out of real concern for Vee of course but if the others figure out what she's doing then they'll get a mask on her and it won't be long before they'll have turned your rescue into a trap. You hope they'd figure that with you gone it's not wroth it but you also highly suspect they'd treat you as someone who "knows too much" and would thus need to be dealt with.
Of course that makes you now immediately realize how dumb it is to tell Vee herself where you are because if they do get suspicious and do make a mask then they'd know. But you can't leave her in the dark and you think it feels better to think that you have at least some level of control over what's going on.
I know who that is.
Vee's reply causes you smirk to because of course she'd type all proper. Though it's not like Izzy herself shorthands much either.
I went by the church and saw your stuff was gone.
thought coach's mask would help
turns out she knows the santoses
so i'd say it did
Hmm...
Don't like you deciding things like that on your own.
But I guess it's fine for now.
Do what you can and keep me informed.

"Who you talkin' to?" asks Alex while keeping her eyes on the road. Contrary to her otherwise reputation, she's a pretty attentive driver.
"Just some friends," you answer.
"New phone? Looks cheap."
"Ah, yeah. My parents were starting to get real asky about what I'm doing with my friends," you tell her, "so like I just bought a little cheap one I can use to throw 'em off track."
"Ha!" Alex laughs, "Damn that's a good idea. 'Course my parents govern with a pretty light hand so I guess it's not something I've gotta worry about. I don't have, like, super Catholic parents or anything like you."
You shrug and simply tell her that it is what it is. You continue talking as you drive to your destination and you find that Alex is strangely enchanting. She's energetic... almost too energetic as she seems to at times trip over her thoughts and digress but it's earnest and in a way endearing. She's a very charismatic person you decide and not bad to look at besides. If, like Vee said, she's rich too it becomes incredibly easy to see why Vee targeted her as her new identity. For Alex Day it seems as if the whole world is her oyster.
For Izzy Santos on the other hand, the world is something to be enjoyed. Her parents were always strict and restrictive: mass on Sundays, strict curfews, no real exposure to a lot. Izzy would, of course, do as she was told until late elementary school when she started to get curious. She'd sneak peeks at things she wasn't supposed to see, go where she wasn't supposed to, and had gotten good at sneaking around behind her parents' back. Then her older brother got accepted to St. Xavier's and it wasn't long before her parents started to ease up.
Maybe it was because they had a kid who was going to "make it" in a good environment or something but with Gabe not around quite as much they eased up on Izzy considerably, though not fully. You can't imagine, for instance, that they would've approved of Alex a few years ago but you'd guess being friends with Gabe gave someone like her a bit of a cushion. Even then it's not like she tells her parents the details either. So long as Izzy's not getting in trouble she's simply "hanging out with friends" as far as they're aware.
When you look at Alex with Izzy's eyes you see a lot of admiration. Oh Izzy can snark at her almost as much as Rae does but it's not at all hard to admire someone so free spirited who seems to act on her whims and do what she enjoys. It's also hard not to feel Izzy's admiration for Rae as well when you think of her. Someone that cool, confident and composed caring not a bit for the approval of other, how could she not?
It's why Izzy likes doing shoots for Rae, capturing and spreading Alex's newest projects, filming and shooting and uploading whatever. She's always figured it was her previously sheltered, cloistered upbringing that did it but she finds the world cool, surprising and fun and wants to capture and enjoy as much of it as she can even if being around Alex can some times be a little dangerous. But isn't that part of the fun?

"Alexis Alexandra Alexia Day you have really outdone yourself," Rae says as she walks around inside the old run down theater. "Mildew and cobwebs and seats with mystery stains really add to the spooky factor. And I'm sure when everyone sees their first rat, the threat of Plague will add a realistic scare factor to the scary movies."
"I aim to please," Alex says proudly. "What about you Izzy? Whatcha think?"
"I think it's going to take me like a week's worth of showering to actually get clean," you reply.
"Bah! It's fine! It'll build character," insists Alex.
"What kind of character?" you wonder.
"The kind that makes you think it's a great idea to show old movies in crumbling piles of shit," Rae answers.
You snicker at that. Rae is definitely feeling extra crabby on account of the booze the three of you and some other friends consumed in excessive amounts as part of a Halloween celebration. You can definitely tell Izzy is feeling the effects too but maybe her spirited nature makes it easier for her to put aside and deal with compared to her more cynical friend.
Alex had only told you a little bit about her plan -- a post-Halloween Halloween party -- on the way to grab Rae from Cherry Brook Bakery and that was all that was relayed to Rae as well but that was all that had been said. It wasn't until Alex had busted into the Old State Theater, an abandoned old dump whose main residents are rats and other creepy crawlies, that she'd revealed the full extent of her plan: use her fancy projector to show old horror movies inside the theater with lots of booze and food and fun for everyone.
Speaking of which...
"Hey so what are we gonna eat anyway?" you ask. "And the drinks?"
"We've got suppliers for the granular ambrosia," states Alex, "but shit I totally forgot the food. What'd even be good on short notice? Donuts?"
"After you got your ass banned from Don's?" Rae says raising an eyebrow.
"Details, Caldwell. 'Sides we got ways around that," she states as she pulls out a wallet, opens it up and gives you a fancy looking credit card. "You're still in good standing at Don's, aintcha Izzy?"
"I am if you let me splurge for me too," you tease. Alex laughs but you know that it's in a way that's rejecting the idea... not that you were serious about it. "Stick to the donuts for now. You good for an Uber?"
"Still got my job so I've got money. Be back shortly," you call out as you head out the door.

You're in the backseat of your Uber, a bag filled with four boxes of donuts next to you and headed back to the theater, when your phone goes off and you notice it's a text from Gabe. just got home. you out? it reads.

With the conversation ended you now can't help but feel antsy. The paranoia from earlier is starting to creep its way back in and its got you more spooked than any of the movies Alex will be showing. Could it be related to the masks? Maybe Kristen wanted to be Abi and found out what's going on and if she did... you don't want to think about it. Because now Vee will have a huge target painted on her back and with her out of the way they could come after you, eliminate a loose end. Given that you've told her where you are if they get a mask or mind band onto her then they'll know who you are too.
They could get to you pretty easily but they could also put pressure on Izzy's brother to put pressure on you as well. You definitely don't want anything like that happening and you wonder if you should message Vee and warn her that the situation might be compromised.
But if you did would she take you seriously? She seems awfully confident about everything and definitely wants your focus to be on her plan. You could always be paranoid about nothing as well so it might be better to just leave her alone and let her take care of things on her end while you worry about things on yours. ![](https://images.Writing.Com/imgs/writing.com/writers/info/interactive-3.png) indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
