You sigh looking through your little sister's posts on the internet. She's been missing for a day now and the police can officially start looking for her, which you thought was bullshit because in those twenty-four hours anything could have happened to her. Your mom was beside herself with worry since it was a miracle she even got pregnant with Haley, not to mention carrying her to full term and delivering a healthy baby. As you're think by about that your phone rings and you see that it's your mom. With a little sigh you answer it with, "Hey Ma."
"Have you heard anything Rick?" she asked obviously desperate to hear that Haley was ok.
"Mom," you said with a little sigh, "I told you that I would call if I heard anything from her. You don't have to keep calling me."
"I'm just afraid that she killed herself," she said breaking down and crying.
After she calmed down a bit you said, "There's nothing that indicates she was having suicidal thoughts."
"Then why hasn't she come home and why are calls going straight to voicemail?" she asked almost shrieking.
"You know she forgot her charger at home," you said trying to sound calm to calm her down. "She probably ran her battery down listening to music which is why calls are going straight to voicemail. She also may not be in a place where she could charge her phone. She mentioned going camping in one of her posts."
"Did she say where?" she asked sounding hopeful.
"Unfortunately she didn't," you said sighing. "It may be that she hadn't decided where to go camping when she posted that and she forgot to tell you."
"I suppose you could be right," she said sighing. "You will call me if you hear anything?"
"Of course I will," you say sighing a bit. "Love you Mom."
"I love you too sweetie," she said before hanging up.
You put your phone down and lean back in your chair. It could be that Haley went camping but you were worried that she didn't tell your mom if she did. Perhaps she was just trying to assert some independence since she was sixteen. Something started tickling in the back of your mind so you sat back up and looked around. Nothing was out of the ordinary but you couldn't ignore that tickling. Letting the feeling be your guide you got up and went to the door of your apartment. You were sure that there would be someone there when you opened it but that wasn't the case. You were about to close the door when you looked down and saw a doll. This wasn't an ordinary doll though, it looked exactly like Haley right down to what she was wearing when your mom saw her last. What did this mean? Did someone have Haley and they were telling you? Was she here? It took seven hours to get from your apartment to your mom's house so it was possible.
You bent down to look at it a bit closer. You could tell that it was made from plastic which suggested it wasn't made within the last twenty-four hours. So someone had to have been watching her for a long time, that's the only way you could explain the detail you see. What about the clothes though? Maybe whoever made this doll also made copies of the clothes they've seen Haley wear. If that was the scenario then it would seem someone was obsessed with her.
You know that you shouldn't touch it but you just couldn't help picking it up. When you did strange words floated through your mind and you had the desire to say them. You weren't sure if you should though. What do you do?
