Maybe it was the morning chill, or the settling of the morning dew, but whatever, Dan awoke. He felt strange, as he felt uncomfortable. He could still remember waking up at home in his bed, covered by a clean sheet and a warming blanket.
Sadly, the memories of what he had not so long age, he did not have then as now. As he raised his head and gave a questioning look around from where he was lying, he saw the cattle, and some were standing, grazing their morning meal. His mind still foggy about so many things as the process he was put through tended to befuddle memories, thoughts and rational thinking. The Professor told Dan what to expect, and about how he would feel, but he never related what it was like after sleeping the night lying on the cold ground.
Lying in a snug curl of his body, Dan laid there preferring to think and work his mind to remember how he got to where he had to live.
His plight began due to greed, or after he read the summer jobs offers posted on the bulletin board at school. He, like many others looked forward to summer and vacation to find employment, as earn money to spend, buying whatever he wished was neat to own.
Job application was when he met Professor Haun, an oriental man, a manager of Sunrise Research, a large employer there in that small Wisconsin town. Big promises made, falsified statements about if he, Dan were to prefer residing at the research center, his pay would be increased, as then on duty 24-7.
"Duty," that was the crux word, that was what got Dan to feeling lost, as almost like he had died.
"Injections," immunizations the Professor said, but the injections caused more than a rash or short illness. Seven injections, some intravenous, as were two other injections being subconscious, as all hurt, but the one the Professor's nurse shot into the corona head of Dan's pretty, as pink penis was the worst.
Oh, and that private room or apartment as promised, well that became a concrete floor and prison cell where Dan laid and screamed as the injections began to work. First happened was the sickening feeling when Dan noticed his skin changing, the color first, as then the texture hardening. The second phase caused his black skin to sprout billions of hairs, or fur as he would realize later.
Then there was that horrid night and day when he reeled in pain as his spine grew, sprouting then what was his tail. "Tail," his tail, Dan's tail, a two foot long tail, it bony, as fur covered ending with a hairy switch. As much he hated to see it grow and become as his tail, he found it had its usage, offering both comfort and a manner to express his attitude.
