Iglis was feeling good, very good. It was like the old days, the usual strains on his body were gone and his cudgel didn't weigh him down like it had that morning. Things had started off so poorly, all he needed was a little respect. Just thinking of that skunk made his chest swell up with pride, if he could still inspire fear like that, then maybe he wasn't so old after all. Though young Oesca could have shown a little more respect, though insolence is to be expected from one so young. Sophie had shown the proper respect, what a pretty little thing she was, were he a little younger he would have been rutting with her in the grasses, he was sure of it.
Though he was unaware of the many sets of eye's had been watching him during his journey, it likely wouldn't have bothered him much, it would only be proper for the beasts to want to know the whereabouts of one of their few serious enemies. Though he never would have guessed that some of them looked upon him less with fear in mind, and more with revenge. Sure some of them couldn't get over the memory of what he had been, but other's weren't so blind, they saw the same thing the Pixies and Faeries saw, a broken old Pixie. Though a few knew doubt on seeing him now, he didn't look so worn down as usual, almost young again. Nonetheless, they would have their revenge, or die trying. One creature in particular, Iglis would remember well.
The scenery was the usual fare, ponds, meadows, trees, nothing more eye catching than the usual. He had been flying for at least an hour, and he was nearly at the spider colony. It became more evident with every new minute, the spider were spreading out from the colony if the webs strewn everywhere were any hint. Iglis had even seen one of the things scuttle for cover out of the corner of his eye, if it was this bad this far away then he could only imagine how bad the infestation was at the source. Soon after sighting the spider he came across a disturbing sight, a boneyard. Apparently the Faerie Spider's had been dumping the remains from their meals here, the very sight of it stopped him flat. Judging by all the skeletons it was apparent where a lot of the missing Faeries had gone, and it was apparent the Spider population was far bigger than they thought. Something else worried him, there were other skeletons strewn about, and with disturbing frequency. The massive husks of beetles, mantis's, and most terrifying of all, the massive corpse of a Brask Tarantula. The largest insect known to Faeries, they wandered in from the Brask Bogs occasionally, though Iglis had only ever heard of two in his lifetime, both times requiring drastic loss of Pixie life to kill or drive off. They stood over three feet tall, and with a six foot leg span, immensely bulky with a spiked chitinous skin and similar to Faerie Spiders, a mouth capable of swallowing as well as sucking prey dry. From the looks of it the Faerie Spider's had overwhelmed it en mass, at least thats what all broken gaps in it's shell implied. They must be very hungry to be going after something that dangerous, there were even the dessicated skins of small mammals strewn about.
Despite Iglis' return to confidence, he was becoming more and more unnerved by what he saw. This problem was far worse than any of them imagined, and as soon as he was done with his duties for the day, he had some things to speak with Sigurd about. Moving on with a newfound hurry, he scanned the web strewn grasses below as he flew toward the colony. Every now and then he saw the glint of malicious eye's following his path, and the closer he got the more his apprehension grew. There was more web than grass now, and even the tree's were coated in the thick silk. The entrance was in the distance and Iglis began to hear something, something that sounded like screaming. Gripping his cudgel he sped toward the entrance, if there was a Faerie in trouble then they were lucky he came when he did. Almost as quickly as the screams had started, they were cut off. Worry shot through Iglis' mind, he might be too late to help. The landscape looked so different, he was having trouble finding the entrance to the colony, the best he could do was continue toward where he heard the screams. Finally the commotion came into sight, and the reason for the silence was readily apparent. A massive Faerie Spider had a small Faerie pinned to the ground, it's fleshy cock rammed down her throat as it wildly pumped into her in a frenzy, her short black hair fanned about her head and large breasts bouncing with each thrust. Her muffled shouts turned to frenzied muffled pleas as she caught sight of Iglis. The Faerie Spider on the other hand had yet to notice him, which presented it perfectly for what he had in store. He felt the old familiar rage flood through him, this insect obviously needed a little reminding that Faeries had protectors in these woods. Diving toward it he tightened his grip on the cudgel and braced himself to swing, the Faerie looking closing her eye's in fear. The Spider noticed Iglis a moment before he swung, hopping to the right, cock pulling free of the little Faeries mouth with a pop. At the same moment Iglis tensed his muscles and swung, the cudgel tearing through the air, the brunt of the swing missing. However it did it's job, the embedded fangs sheared through the Spider's left leg joints at the knee, sending yellow blood spraying across the clearing and the Faerie.
The Spider landed with a thud, keeling over as blood pulsed out of it's legs, pooling in the dirt. Terror tore through it's brain, moments before it had been fucking it's succulent new catch, soon to enjoy her tender flesh, when the damned Pixie came out of nowhere. It was in shock, some of it through blood loss, but mostly due to the realization it died at the hands of it's favorite prey. The Faerie girl sputtered as Iglis helped her up, and winced at the loud keening sound the Spider was making. "What were you doing out here?" Iglis asked her, moving toward the Spider after seeing she could stand on her own. "I was looking for my sister, she was part of the class here." she told him, brushing her shoulder length black hair out of her eyes, and wiping the line of Spider precum off her lips. "You should know better, the entire class was lost," Iglis told her, bringing the cudgel down on the Faerie Spider's head with a crunch. The keening turned to a slow gurgle before the Spider went silent, "That's not true sir, Hessla escaped, and she said she never saw the Spider's get my sister." Iglis looked her over again, most Faeries moved on after the death of a friend or family member, it was just the way life was for them. He felt sorry for her, she was obviously not strong enough for a world like this, and it had nearly cost her life. "You shouldn't be here, dieing won't help your sister," His tone softened a bit, "Return to the warrens, I'll search for your sister." As soon as she heard him say that her eyes lit up, "You'll find Celisa for me? Oh thank you so much," she practically did a little jig. "I have one favor to ask though, where is the entrance to the colony?" He needed to know, if he could convince Sigurd of the seriousness of the issue, then he would need the entrance to conduct his plan. "I can show you before I go, it would be easier that way." Just as she finished the sentence a string of web slammed into the back of her head, jerking her back toward the grass. With a slash the string fell loose before sliding back into the grass and the Faerie slid to a stop with a moan. Iglis was ready for the Spider as it charged out of grass, crushing it's chest with a hammer blow.
As he pulled the cudgel free, he felt the strength leave him. He was exhausted and fear blossomed in his mind as he watched patches of grass all around them start to shake. They were nervous, none wanting to attack first after the deaths of their two brothers, but it wouldn't last long. Stumbling over the Faerie he shook her, helping her up as she came to. "We need to leave now" Iglis grabbed her arm roughly, taking to the air as her wings weakly fluttered, barely providing any help. As the Spiders poured into the clearing they began firing lines of web after them, Iglis did his best to dodge the lines, but the Faerie was less than helpful. He didn't notice the anchor line that hit her in the stomach, with a quick tug from the victorious Spider she was pulled from his grip and toward the ground. Weakly swinging in panic Iglis missed entirely, and cursed. There was nothing he could do for her now, he didn't have the strength. Something inside him broke, his pride leaving him and nothing but a tiredness remained. As she started to scream he looked down to see a Spider push into her ass and began pounding away, as another spider closed it's mouth around her head and shoulders, her cries cut off. He watched sadly for a minute more as with every thrust the Spider pushed her into the other's throat. Finally as only her ass and legs hung free, the Spider erupted into her ass, shooting her down the other's throat. With a belch the Spider looked up at Iglis, before following the other's into the grass. He followed their path until he caught sight of where they were going, the entrance to the colony. Thick webbing covered most of the entrance, the Spider's pulled back some of the webbing and continued down into the hole.
At least in the end she had shown him the entrance, he would avenge her at least. Sighing he slowly continued toward the school, he had a job to do before that.
