Oliver never played football, but thought that it was the time to start. He had always had a talent for playing defense when playing with his friends, but until freshman year never felt to urge to play football.
Oliver showed up at the tryouts, and just barely made it on the team. Excited about his achievment, he was leaving the locker room when the coach came up behind him and said.
"You better bulk up boy, you are going to need alot more than that to hold up some of those runningbacks."
Oliver had always been skinny, he had a fair amount of muscle, but skinny. His metabolism never let him put on a pound.
He started to work out, but only a few months later he pretty much maxed out on muscle mass. Oliver was a great deal shorter than the other players, and weighed much less than them.
After the first game, the coach confronted Oliver, he was carrying a bag, but Oliver could not see what was in it.
"You're having trouble competing with those other players, they weigh much more than you." He said.
Newt realized the coach was right.
"Here," He motioned for the bag. "You should take these, eat them."
Oliver watched as the coach pulled out two dozen Krispy-Kreme Doughnuts out of the bag.
"What are they for?" he questioned.
"You need to bulk up, so you need to eat."
"Thank You" Oliver said to coach, and gave a half-hearted smile. He wasn't sure if he wanted to eat all that sugar, but didn't want to be rude to the coach, he did buy them after all.
"Are you going to eat them or what?" The Coach said.
Oliver reached for the box, he didn't want to be rude. Oliver ate the first six donuts with no problem. It seemed like forever. He kept on eating, knowing that his body was hating him. By the eighteenth donut he was stuffed. He burped loudly, but the coach didn't seem to notice. He was busy running on the treadmill in the workout room with his iPod turned up. He quickly forced the last couple of donuts down. He felt like he was going to puke. He thanked the coach and quickly walked home. He thought about what just happened. He was wondering if he should confront the coach and say he didn't want to fatten himself just for football, but he didn't want to let the team down.Oliver decided that he would need to bulk up a little bit, but didn't want things to get two drastic.
